I am sorry, but this has been a minor annoyance for me all year. Yes, the Flames were awful in Games 1 and 2 and in their last game against the Oilers, but in the game prior to that one they played very well, carried the play, were unlucky to surrender a goal and to not score more. They lost the January game in Edmonton in a shootout, but were otherwise pretty dominant.

I think you can make a case against either team.

It seems Anaheim has had our number for so long. Is it a bad matchup? Is it just coincidence? Lulls in the schedule and so forth? I hate to say it, but Its not Getzlaf and Perry that worry me in an Anaheim matchup, its Kesler. I think he hates the Flames as much we hate him. He always seems to bring his A game against the Flames. Carlyle is an obsessive line matcher, so maybe the Flames' depth will win out.

Chicago looks like the closest thing to a modern day dynasty, but that team has played a ton of hockey the past few years. Part of me wonders if they are turning into those Wings teams of the mid 2000's that always strolled through the regular season only to get upset in the playoffs. Kane and Toews are great, but I think its Keith and Seabrook that stir the Hawks drink, and those guys have a ton of mileage on them. I think we match up against Chicago a bit better, but the teams essentially play the same brand of hockey, so it would probably come down to top players performing and goaltending.

I was hoping for the Oilers or Sharks, but now I don't think either the hawks or ducks offers any significant advantages for the Flames.

Maybe it just comes down to playing scumbags (Kesler, Perry, Bieksa) vs. playing skill (pick whom you like on the Hawks).

Anaheim disgusts me - they're a dirty team, getting away with an awful lot. Perry harasses goalies unmercifully, so perhaps it's just time that the Flames ignore all of that - be ultra-disciplined and trust the refs to call what they need to. Then they can use their skill to dominate the Ducks.

Either series (or even the Greasers) will be tough, so for me it's totally a 50/50 thing. What I hope is that the Flames are indeed careful, disciplined and opportunistic.

And I'd just LOVE to see Kesler crying on the bench. Please.

Yep, that was me, I'll own that opinion. I was wrong.

A big game from the big name Flames and an Elliott win today and I should at least salvage my pool entry fee. Oh and also the Flames win, which is nice.

A loss means the Flames (probably) don't have the play the Ducks, and even worse, the grease, until the conference finals, which is more than fine by me, and they get a slightly better pick.

Win win all around today. Go Nashville.

Need to find a sports bar here in Mexico to sport the new "ink".

This has definitely brought the Coiler fans around here out of hiding

Rittich is strictly backup - Elliott is playing the whole game.

Thank you!

Any guesses Rittich getting a shot if Nashville loses? Or will Elliott get the whole game to keep him sharp?

Pretty sure it is Elliott's net tonight regardless of what the Preds do.
