Awesome performance by the kid. Hopefully he can steal them a few more and get them to the next round.

I struggle to get too excited about young goalie prospects however, it just seems impossible to project how they will do as professionals. The top rated goalies in junior routinely bust or underwhelm and others emerge as they move through the AHL and into the NHL ranks. Maybe that's my Flames fan bias but it sure seems that way with less goalies getting drafted high in the 1st round than in years past.

Parsons should have been a first rnd draft pick and we are damn lucky that goalies slide so much in drafts now.
I personally see him knocking carey price down a spot in 3/4 years...

This is a bit nutty, guy's playing junior and there's talk of him of knocking over the best tender in the world right now...tad fast.

He's a good one though.

That's a Robbie Schremp level hyperbole

The Flames projected McDonald to have a better career than Demko, I'm not sure that would have changed after just 2 years.

Are you suggesting he's going to be the goalie equivalent of Rob Schremp, with his 1300 career points?

Then they are blind. Demko is on another level then McDonald, and every scout and other team fan will tell you the same.

Or maybe they are trained professionals that see something you don't see on the stats pages.

I repeat every single scout in media has and had Demko over Mason. With the flames history of picking goalies, I'm not going to assume they are smarter than everyone else on this one. It was a bad pick then, and it's a bad pick now.

Am I saying Mason will bust ? No. However Demko has a much higher percentage of becoming a real NHL goalie and he always has. Obviously our scouts seen something to put Mason above Demko, but it's looking like they were wrong.

Demko's a good prospect, but who cares. The Nucks have botched the Virtanen pick and took Juolevi instead of Tkachuk, IMO the McDonald over Demko thing pales in comparison. Plus Parsons looks like a great prospect and IMO the Flames are set up pretty well with Gillies/Parsons as the top goalie prospects.

Its not really about them. Straight up Demko is just a better prospect than McDonald right now.

You can't hit them all out of the park. I'm just thrilled the Flames drafting and developing has improved a lot from the dark years.

Sure, but what does that have to do with drafting Parsons a year ago?
