I'm really surprised by how much Flames fans want the Oilers. Sure the Flames are deeper than the Oilers but the one similarity between the Oilers and Ducks is toughness. This is the Flames kryptonite.

I don't really see much of difference between Lucic/Kassian/Maroon/Nurse and Ritchie/Manson/Bieksa. Flames will be intimidated by both these teams. Flames won 1 game out of 8 against these two teams and the one win was against the Ducks.

I think Gillies was pretty fortunate with his rebounds and compared to Elliott has allot of work left to do.

He gets a lot of credit from me for all he has endured recovery wise this past year .

Watched him play prior to getting injured and he's definitely a good goalie for the future but we have other goalies playing well he needs to beat out.

His rebound control was terrible which seems to be a recurring issue with him. Will have to keep working on that but positioning was decent.

Kid woke me up 0400 in the morning and I couldn't go back to sleep, so I watched the game, mind you, I don't watch many games due to the time difference.

My take? Hell, the flames couldn't complete a pass and were hemmed in their own zone. They looked slow and sloppy. I really hope this team won't show up in the play offs.

Winning is fantastic, but man they played like crap. LA weren't much better, both teams looked dull.

If a rookie in his 1st game was playing as well as a veteran at the very top of his game, that would be truly amazing. Especially for a goaltender.

One game is one game, but all things considered I couldn't be much happier with what Gillies showed.

They didn't play like crap. LA mailed it in, and the game felt very meaningless for both teams which took away from the excitement, but the Flames certainly weren't crap. They dominated most of the game in my opinion.

The Kings and Ducks can play ugly and still score and win. When the Flames play that style they seem to forget how to play hockey and lose.

LA was the perfect team for him to play. No high flying end to end action. More of a slow steady game where the Kings take time to setup. I also didn't think he looked like the next coming of Kipper. But he didn't need to be. I think a bigger test will be against a team like the Hawks or Sharks that make more skilled plays. Smart move by GG to play him against the Kings and break him in easy.

Bieksa, really? Where did you see this? I could see your point with Manson's fight with Gio, but Bieksa?

The Flames knew those two games really meant nothing other then standings jockeying and after losing the first one in the final 3 mins they made the right call by not engaging in a meaningless game in Anahiem. Wait for the playoff series to start and you'll see just how 'afraid' guys like Ferly and Engelland are of Berkieksa or wte his name is.

Bring on the ducks I say.
