All we know for sure is its not the Sharks.
Oilers could still finish 1st, 2nd or 3rd.
Flames could still play Edmonton or Chicago.

Really wouldn't mind seeing a similar lineup against the Sharks on Saturday. They took it to the Kings but the Kings are also a little bit checked out. Lazar and Hamilton looked like they should be full time guys, not guys that draw in for an almost meaningless game. Would be nice to see them again Saturday and then have a real tough decision about who gets bottom 6 ice time in the playoffs.

I have to say it was nice to see all the youth in the line up perform so well. The depth of this team is really our strong point imo.

Solid win when I was fully expecting a loss with so many key players being rested. Lazar looked great. Already doubled his point production in Ottawa. Great bounce back game from Wideman. Bennett was a monster. And that was a sweet preview of the goalie of the future, Gillies.

4. Tom McCollum - Stockton?
The Flames will sign Gillies and will need to slot him somewhere. Will they resign Riddich and where does he play next year? Elliott resigns as the #1 goalie.
This is why I think Gillies will be in Calgary next year.

I say re-sign Elliott and rotate Gillies and Riddich as backup, kind of like what Tampa Bay did with Vasilevskiy last year.

I still think Treliving wants to get a young starter who is ready now and is the same age as the main pieces in our core, mid 20's(ish). He apparently went after Martin Jones, Cam Talbot and Matt Murray. Grubauer maybe?
Who knows though, I could also see them going after Bishop as a UFA, or re-signing Elliot and then having Gillies and Rittich duke it out for the back up role, like you say.
Calgary:
1. Elliott/Bishop/Proven veteran starter
2. Gillies/Rittich
Stockton:
1. Gillies/Rittich
2. Parsons/McDonald
ECHL:
1. Parsons/McDonald
2. Schneider
McCollum loaned out or traded after the expansion draft.
Going to be interesting to see how the goaltending situation shapes up this off season.

Johnny needs to stop whining to the refs and maybe he'll get some calls his way.
He didn't seem to whine after that play if I remember correctly but he has done a lot. Probably has a pretty bad reputation with refs.

What really needs to happen is the league needs to crack down on slashing/tapping so that players like Johnny can ply their trade and entertain the paying fans with exciting offensive plays.

That is a good plan.
Have Mcdonald and Parsons in the ECHL and rotate them in and out of Stockton as well.

Good game by the flames. The penalty on Wideman was BS and it all happened because Wideman threw the puck away from the ref on the stoppage before. Next play there's a weak call on him. He even knew it. You can see him giving the refs the gears when he is back on the bench.

I liked that Gillies didn't let that one goal get to his head. He seemed to shake it off pretty quick and looked very confident.

Am I the only one who wasn't overly impressed by Gillies? I mean he held his own, but he also wasn't tested all that much. He seemed a little goofy on a couple saves, Reto Berra esque.

I didn't think that he had to deal with much either but definitely didn't see the Berra-esque movements at all.
At worst, he looked a little slow/surprised on pucks coming from behind the net/off the boards but not much to say in general outside of a quietly solid game.

I thought Gillies earned at least a passing grade--certainly fine for a rookie's first start. You could tell that some of his reads were off that caused him to be ill-positioned at times or to overreact to some shots. You can tell in some cases he was outright just guessing. Also, there were some rebounds that were poorly handled. But that's to be expected given that he's never really faced NHL shots/releases before. On the plus side, his positioning and reads were good enough to make the "easy" saves. Indeed, there were a lot of those since the defence generally did a good job of limiting shots to the outside or getting their sticks and bodies in the lanes.

Some of the best goalies have had unorthodox styles.
