You guys gonna try to call your party street the Blue or Orange Mile again too for this run? Talk about having Calgary city envy..Edmonton isn't Calgary, just accept it and do your own playoffs traditions you copycats. Or has it been so long you forgot what they even were?

As much as I hate the Oil, I don't see anyone wearing a free t-shirt to a playoff game. Have been to a few games at Rogers (I live in Edmonton) and most Oilers fans are wearing jerseys. Katz is an idiot.

There are some jerseys around the league that almost make me jealous at times of their beauty and design. That abhorrent orange and blue that the Oilers are sporting is NOT one of them. Heinous. Orange jerseys and sweatpants, what a team uniform.

Coaches and teams have long memories.
I mean this isn't like peewee ball where you're supposed to call off the hounds with 10 minutes left and playing your backup.
But its easy to point to the Oilers doing that when your telling your players to smash McDavid's stinking teeth in.

I don't think anyone is arguing the Oilers did the rebuild properly from the start. I'm certainly not.

Hi, this is Kevin Lowe.
After a very eventful week around the hockey club, I wanted to take a moment and communicate to you, our most valued customers, our continued commitment to success.
As I stated last week, our hockey club will always do what we feel is in the best interest of our fans, and in the best interest of building a Stanley Cup championship team here in Oil Country.
Right now, we have a core group of veteran players and a wealth of emerging young talent. Last week’s trade brought us two more young players in Robert Nilsson and Ryan O’Marra, and another first round draft choice in this year’s NHL draft. They will join players like Pouliot, Jacques, Stortini, Brodziak, and Schremp, just to name a few, as potential members of a championship Oilers club. Certainly, along the way, we will add to our roster through trades and free agency when the right opportunities are there, now that we have the resources to do so. Make no mistake; our plan is to return the Stanley Cup to Edmonton.
We have an exciting future ahead of us all, and we look forward to sharing it with you.
Thanks again for your ongoing support of Oilers Hockey

I think the argument here is the oilers never rebuilt properly. They landed the best player since Crosby (maybe since Jagr) and haven't managed to screw it up yet. They tried to with the Griffin Reinhardt deal.
The oilers success has not been from good hires by the owner or good management or good coaching. The falling of a few lottery balls is all they have to show for 10 years of crap.

Shocked to hear Daryl Katz has been accused of offering money to an actress for sex. I'd think he'd make the City of Edmonton pay for it.

If EDM would pay for it, they'll be paying to erect something not nearly as impressive.

not really, we had our NHL team first and Rexall Place first and now Rogers place...everything that Calgary wants
and relax, it's not like they're putting shirts on the seats for everyone to wear, and he's only gave the shirts to STH...he's encouraging people to wear orange to the games...which most people do already
and this whole "wear one colour into an arena" gimmick is done all across North America in various sports so it's not like it's that innovative
much like the "towel waving" gimmick

Of course they would only give shirts to tier 1 fans. This is Edmonton we are talking about.
The city envy comment stands imo. Edmonton will have a couple years to enjoy what they have and Calgary will beat it. You will also have a lot more Edmontonians say that Calgary is easily the nicer city than the other way around.

To be fair, any player will step up if they are playing on a team with a player like McDavid. Just look at the Pens, everyone who steps into the lineup plays well because they are playing on a team with Crosby. It is infectious.
It is difficult to judge the impact of these players on their own merit.

So because the best player in the world (arguably) plays on the Oilers, it's not possible to judge the work of the GM and the players he's brought in? Got it.

One of the league'a worst deals going forward. It's really bad in a year or two. It'll cost the Oilers in the worst way when they can't retain a young player because they've run out of cap room.
So, yeah, "Chia" has already done a lot of bad management.

I pick the one trade that was organizational incompetence that was terrible the instant it was made
Talbot and Maroon was good.
Kaddish - meh
Maroon - good
Sekara and Lucic - overpaid and will cause cap issues unless you win the cup this year or next year.
