Flames looked better for long stretches in both games, but the Ducks exploited momentary defensive lapses. I wouldn't call it luck.
The Flames can beat them, but it will take a very disciplined and structured game to do so.

Ducks for me
If we're going to jump into the whole playoff intensity rivalry of the playoffs, then we might as well jump in with two feet and we can really test this core under fire.
With Fowler out and some of their other injuries, I like the idea of taking on the ducks.
We might as well get this silly curse out da way.
Oh
and
Screw the ducks.

Jamie Maclennan on this hit with TSN Vancouver radio on Wed this week says that Matthew Tkachuk will be a "Tasmanian devil" in the playoffs.

Soft goals from Elliot and some bad defensive plays did us in the last 2 games against Anaheim. Most of the time we were right there with them. It will be a tight series.
I expect the coaching staff and the leadership of this team to recognize the importance of not being bullied, but more importantly to see the bigger picture that if we play our style we have a chance. This past week we´ve lost and come undone in games that degenerated into slugfests. We will lose for sure if that happens again.

I think we really should ramp up the rhetoric, Treliving going out and rubbing his eyes like he's crying and saying "I'm Bob Murray, I'm a big suck, sucks to be you Fowler"
Gio skating on the ice changing his jersey name plate to read Gio 3:16 says I just broke Fowler's leg"
And then have SB, MF and MT hit everything in sight so that we can get the Ducks focused on anything but playing hockey.
Also every player should memorize a picture of a Duck players wife, so that they can skate up to that player and tell them that their wife is hot and they probably hate losers so after we (The Flames) win the series we'll be dating your wives.

The problem with saying that Ferland, Bennett and Tkachuk will play a physical game and throw the ducks off, is that the Ducks have more veteran players who can play that same type of game and have played that way for longer. The problem is that with that strategy the Flames would be playing out of their comfort zone, while letting the ducks play their style. If the Flames want to beat the ducks they have to do it with speed and smart systems play, not gooning it up like they tried the last couple against Anaheim. I also feel like Gibson is more capable of stealing a series than Crawford is, so for what it's worth I hope we face Chicago. Also the ducks getting points in 10 straight or whatever puts them in a pretty confident position heading into the post season.

Bieksa is a veteran who plays a physical game and Ferland got in his head bigtime in 2015.
Crawford has 2 rings Gibson has proven nothing.
I think it is important that the Flames skilled guys stick to the system and not get caught up in it but Tkachuk, Bennett, Ferland, Engellend, Bouma should be mixing it up

Ideally:
Anaheim in round 1
Lose games 1 and 2
Win games 3 and 4
Lose game 5
Win game 6
Win game 7 and break the curse go on to round 2
Edmonton round 2
Win games 1, 2, 3 and 4 in embarrassing fashion
Chicago round 3
Win in 6 games so the clincher is on home ice
Columbus in round 4
Win Cup in game 6 on home ice, where the clincher was scored on a goal where the puck barely crosses the line but after a review is called a good goal, FU Torts we get our just revenge 13 years later

Anaheim because F those guys. We still have a score to settle from when they knocked us out back in 06. I sincerely hope we draw them, then crush their dreams like they did to us.
Hate Anaheim.

While I like the outcome in you scenario, not sure dropping the first two games in Anaheim would be ideal, and I'm not sure Chicago is the ideal option for the conference final

It has to be Anaheim. If only for the sheer hatred off that team and the stupidity of the Honda Center curse.

My post was all about the ideal outcome. Believe me, my heart would have a lot of trouble with most of that while it was happening. Except for sweeping the oilers in embarrassing fashion

Dont think my heart could handle that, doubt I'd make it out of the third round in a scenario like that.

People want to play Chicago in the first round because we won some regular season games against them?
Hell. No.
This is a team closest to a modern day dynasty, known for elevating their game in the playoffs.
Same core, new filler = one of the few elite teams in the league.
Two reasons St.Louis knocked them out last year:
1) Stanley Cup hangover (2015 cup)
2) Elliott
So Anaheim please, Chicago is just too good in the post-season and the series against the Ducks will be just too bloody entertaining.

I prefer the Ducks. Their blueline is depleted, and if you want to go deep, you can't be afraid of anyone.
It takes a lot of things to go right to win a Cup. All players need to step up, and you need a bit of luck. If these things happen, they can dispatch the ducks.
