sort of like in the Iginla glory days. I'm sure more than a few fans were watching the scoring races as well as the standings. just something else for a fan to cheer for.

HF Oiler fans are ridiculous. They are like termites that have infested a house and after a decade of slowly eating their way through the structure they have broken free in vast numbers. I can't wait to see he who they get in the 1st rnd and watch that team play the role of the Orkin man.

Fixed I am pretty sure it isn't limited to HF Boards.

And because Edmonton most likely has a first round date with SJ or Nashville; two very beatable teams at the moment. Whereas Calgary looks like they're headed to Anaheim or Chicago. If Edmonton had to play the Ducks or Hawks first round, almost guaranteed they'd be golfing by the end of it.

The don't really have their own message board so they out number other fan bases by a substantial margin. plus they have their group of henchman in disguise of moderators. show them where they're wrong and your post disappears.

Their team has no playoff experience together. None. And in terms of individuals, only a couple have any significant experience.
So I don't know how far they expect to make it but it can't be very far. Teams don't go from 29th place to cup contention. Usually they have to ascend a few levels over a few years first. It's just unheard of. They're extremely fortunate to be landing a slumping San Jose team with significant injuries. But even then, the Sharks are far more experienced and won't be pushovers.
You don't understand how different playoffs are until your team goes through them. It's another game. In the regular season teams and players can be complacent, or on back to backs, might not formulate a specific game plan, and whatever. Playoffs, the opposing team and coaching staff scout the #### out of you. They'll come up with a very precise plan that'll be adjusted accordingly along the way and players that are historical playoff performers step it up to another level. You just can't help but think there's a reality check coming for them.
Haven't gone over there in a while for good reason. Amusingly there's usually some overblown hype thread, or attention seeking thread within the top 5-10 in the league forum whenever they (or the leafs) are winning. And of course when the Flames fans post discussions about their players doing well, the trolls use it to go through and spew mindless hate on the team, which has nothing to do with the topic at hand.
Definitely taking refuge in here until the until they get taken down a peg in the post-season.

Daryl Katz is a creep:
Quote:
The model,#Greice Santo, who had a recurring in “Jane the Virgin,” alleges that she was twice lured to the hotel room of#Daryl Katz, the Canadian billionaire who owns the Edmonton Oilers, with promises that he could help her acting career. Santo says that although she spurned Katz’s advances, she later received two wire transfers totaling $35,000. In an interview, she said that such behavior is typical in Hollywood.

Patently unfair, I know, but I suppose that's what happens when one team has a better season than another.....

Blackhawks - '07-08 - missed playoffs, '08-09 - lost in conference finals (qualifies as being in Cup contention), '09-10 - won Stanley Cup.
Pittsburgh - '05-06 - missed playoffs, '06-07 - lost in conference quarterfinals, '07-08 - lost in Stanley Cup (certainly in contention), '08-09 - won Stanley Cup
Carolina - '03-04 - missed playoffs, '04-05 - lockout, '05-06 - won Stanley Cup
That's three pretty recent examples right there. Not saying it's the norm or even what the Oilers will do this year, but it's most certainly not "just unheard of."

In loser points. But you're right.
I think they'll struggle with whoever they get. San Jose are the reigning western conference champs for a reason. Anybody with sense won't expect them to just not rebound the rest of the way.

I don't think anyone is suggesting SJ will just roll over or be an easy mark. The greybeards are old-man-strong.

‘Jane the Virgin’ Actress Says NHL Owner Offered Movie Role for Sex (EXCLUSIVE)
Quote:
A Brazilian actress-model is accusing an NHL owner and financier behind Silver Pictures of offering her “millions” of dollars and a movie role in exchange for sex.
|
Quote:
Katz’s attorneys have accused Cipriani and Santo of attempting to extort $3 million from Katz as the price for keeping quiet. Katz does not deny meeting with Santo, but has alleged that some elements of her story have been misconstrued.
|
Quote:
The story begins in November 2015, when Santo was flown to Hawaii to participate in a photo shoot for Viva Glam magazine. While there, she was introduced to Canadian executive Michael Gelmon, who suggested she should meet his cousin, Daryl Katz. According to a handwritten statement filed with the lawsuit, said she was invited to Katz’s hotel suite at the Four Seasons with the promise that he could help her career.
“Katz said he could put me in a big role that would change my life and then switched the conversation and said he rather give me money,” Santo wrote.
According to Santo, Katz said, “I’m talking about millions… This would help your family and help you so you won’t struggle.”
Santo said she asked what she would have to do in exchange, and was told, “I’m looking for companionship and sex.”

There is a lot to this story.. Pretty crazy
Quote:
According to a letter prepared by Katz’s attorney, Cipriani threatened to go public with false allegations against Katz unless he was paid $3 million. In the settlement talks, Gelmon offered to facilitate meetings to help Santo’s acting career. Santo said she was offered a “three-picture deal” to keep quiet, but rejected the offer. The negotiations then broke down.
Cipriani and Santo then went to the Hawaii Police Department with allegations that Katz was using the magazine to lure young women and solicit them for prostitution. The handwritten statement was forwarded to the Hawaii investigators, and Cipriani also alerted the New York Post to the story. The Hawaii case was closed without charges being filed.
