Default American Politics Thread: Orange is the new POTUS

So it's estimated that it costs $60-70,000 worth of law enforcement (PBSO) per day when Trump is here, but will probably double with the Chinese President. He's not even staying on Palm Beach Island - L'Eau Palm Beach is not in Palm Beach proper. It's in Manalapan . How declasse'

Apparently there are protests tomorrow. I'm going to try to get to one and take photos, for what that's worth.

There have already been protestors with signs saying "The Chinese government stole my property" (Chinese-Americans of course) and Vietnamese groups; I was at work and could not see these.

Witty- you come off sounding pretty petty. Would you be more happy if Ivanka attended the Sport Clips University training program?
So a BA from a fancy Ivy League school counts for a lot to you, eh? Huh.

Not necessarily. Just when someone is spouting off about why or why not someone is successful we need to take a closer look at their accomplishements.

And for the record a friend of mine owns a Sport Clips university and I think it's a fine school.

It's also cringe-worthy a failed attempt at identifying whataboutery, thereby demonstrating that he doesn't understand the concept.

Percentage of bachelor-degree holders worth 150 million dollars: 0.0000001%
Percentage of Donald Trump's children worth 150 million dollars: 100%

George W Bush went to Yale, but i don't think anyone believes that he's that bright...

the education system is a bit different in the states, and i have no doubt that connections matter, esp for private universities.

As for Ivanka, not sure if she was being coy, but saying she didn't know what complicit means makes me wonder...

It is pretty impressive when children of a billionaire are not poor or badly educated, they must have really worked hard to get over all the hurdles against them from their birth.

McMaster and Mattis are two individuals that command respect in and around that administration... from both parties

McMaster, at least from my understanding, was really caught between a rock and a hard place when he was tabbed by Trump for the NSA post... As a serving member of the military, I don't know if its even possible to turn down the commander in chief.

Mattis' record also speaks for itself

That said, those professionals left in the government, like career military, FBI and CIA won't suffer fools gladly... eventually they'll start to push back against ideological and/or dogmatic agendas, especially if they believe they hurt US interests, both short and long term.

I am hoping that Bannon's removal was a result of this mini power struggle. And having McMaster and Mattis in high level positions at least gives me some hope that Trump can get some clear-eyed advice and perspective if/when the ##### hits the fan...

If he asks for it at least.

Anyone read the Trump interview in the NYTimes today? https://www.nytimes.com/2017/04/05/u...ript.html?_r=0

Quote:
GLENN THRUSH, White House correspondent: Why do you think Democrats feel the need to oppose Gorsuch? What do you think the politics is?

TRUMP: Well, I think that some of it had to do with the election. They thought they were going to win. You know, winning the Electoral College is, for a Republican, is close to impossible and I won it quite easily. And I think they are still recovering from that, but they are recovering now. I think the Susan Rice thing is a massive story. I think it’s a massive, massive story. All over the world, I mean other than The New York Times.
Trump never changes.

I've said this many times, when I listen to him, I think he is mentally unstable, but when I actually read his words, I truly think he is mentally ######ed.
His answer isn't even coherent or close to answering the question.
What a dunce.

Seems pretty clear to me. Dems are butt hurt they lost the election and now are opposing everything Trump does without reason. Although it's good to see some Dems finally coming over. I have a feeling this trickle effect will turn into a mass exodus from Pelosi, Schumer and the establishment democrats once more spying details emerge.
