Yep, that 80 year old leprechaun is another reason I don't want the Flames playing the Schmucks.

Ducks for me. I think we can beat them if we play OUR game.

Heart breaking would be losing when you think you're going to win.
A loss to the Ducks would be the least heart breaking loss there would be. A win would be as sweet as a win can be (besides the Oilers)

Choosing Chicago. The way that Kesler line neutralizes the Monahan line and then counter punches back with all their skilled forwards will win Anaheim the series right there. Getzlaf and Eaves are on fire, Lindholm and Vatanen will be back and Gibson looks elite. They haven't lost a regulation game in 12 games and I have no interest in watching the Ducks-Flames from an entertaiment standpoint either.
Offensively, Gaudreau doesn't play like himself against the Ducks and we need him to be effective if we want to win a series and I think he'd play better against a more open series like Chicago. They have depth in their top 6, but we have 2 lines that might be able to cancel eachother out. I think Crawford can be beat and I don't think Hossa is quite the same as he used to be. I'd much rather watch a fun wide open series than a frustrating and chippy series that the Ducks one will be.

Better to lose to Chicago with some dignity then be humiliated by the Ducks. And I mean humiliation in the way those a-holes taunt our bench. Flames aren't ready yet to overcome that garbage and I'm sure they're just as sick of seeing it as us fans. Hope I live long enough to see us beat those classless jerks.

Both will be nasty and entertaining I think Chicago and Anaheim are both difficult to win so it doesn't matter. For the travel time and rivalry I'd prefer Anaheim.

I think a victory over the Ducks would be the sweetest of the two, but I still don't want to see them in the first round. I feel better about our chances against the Hawks.

Yesterday after the game, I was thinking Chicago. But now that I've had a day to mull it over, I'd choose the Ducks. Their luck can't last forever. We exorcise the demons come playoff time, and sweep them in 4. Bold!

This is EXACTLY why I want Anaheim in the first. Beating this team will mean they can beat anyone. The sooner the Flames put the ducks in their place the better! Get revenge, get even, get your inner ####### out Sean Monahan!

So much wishful thinking in this thread regarding the Ducks. The Flames have lost 25 straight games in Anaheim and have looked terrible in every one, and they were terrible against the Ducks 2 years ago in the playoffs. The Flames just don't have the size or mental toughness to deal with them, another series against them will just be another embarrassment. At least with Chicago we won't have to worry about guys taking runs at Giordano, or watching smug interviews with Kesler and Bieska

Ducks. Gotta beat them sometime. The series would be much more entertaining and that's what this is all about isn't it? Ducks can beat you so many different ways, up to the Flames to figure out how to slay the beast.
Better odds vs CHI definitely, but it would be oh so sweet to beat the ducks. Not gonna be an easy first round either way, so I'll take the rivalry every time. Would have been nice to match up against the oilers and get a free pass to the second round though.

Yep. Lots of people thinking with their hearts and not with their heads.
How many of the requests for a series with the Ducks are accompanied by wanting to thump them or see them cry etc.

I was on the edge of my seat during that 3rd period last night. A series against the Ducks will be war. I want.

So what? Not trying to be rude. What's wrong with wanting to witness a thumping?

What gives you the impression that a thumping by the Flames is what will take place?

Lots of people are worried due to the last couple against the Ducks but the Hawks are the far better team so we shouldn't want them. The whole streak can't be completely discounted but having said that really who cares about the Flames losing there from 04-14 as the team is different now. All it takes is 1 win in the Pond and the whole series could shift.
Chicago is a team that has won 3 Cups the Ducks choke every year. That is why I think a lot of people want the Ducks

Thinking with your heart and not your head is the best part about watching/playing sports.

Beating the ducks would give the team the same boost as beating the wings in 04 did.
