Agreed. If I was McPhee I would take Stajan over Brouwer all day as Stajan plays a more important position and is one of the better 4th line centers in the league. Brouwer is kind of a passenger that has a few moments here and there where he looks good. I suppose it all depends on the positions they take from other teams as they may need a winger more than a center or vice versa.
Yeah, and also they wouldn't be married to Stajan long term as he'd just have one year left where as Brouwer has three more. If Stajan/Vegas were a good fit they could probably re-sign him for a year or two at a reduced cap hit too, or trade him at the deadline for a pick.
Stajan, Brouwer, Bouma all need to be gone next year. That's frigin 10M of salary on the books for next year. that's damn pricey for 4th line quality and results
Love stajan as a person, but he is a marginal NHL player in my opinion. Not fast enough, not strong enough, not skilled enough.

I understand that some of the consternation around Brouwer revolves around the term and cap hit of his deal, but I will just point out:
Brouwer has more points in his last 10 games than Sam Bennett while playing less minutes.
In his last 10 games, Brouwer has more points than Frolik with a better +/- averaging about 3-5 minutes less per game.
In his last 10 games, Brouwer has as many points as Ferland while getting roughly the same kind of icetime.
I'm not going to make the argument that Brouwer hasn't disappointed somewhat this season, but let's bring a little context into the situation here: he's filling a hole more adequately than a guy like Freddie Hamilton could, and that's the alternative right now.
Troy Brouwer has as many goals in his last 10 games as Lance Bouma has in his last 60 games.

Kesler is the one that starts the whole thing off as well with a brutal two hander to the ankle of Frolik as Kesler Cross the blueline and Tkachuk gets run.
I will die happy if Ferly or Engelland get a chance to speedbag Kesler.
That actually worked out quite well for us. Kesler misses his punch and Engelland is actually able to land a light one on Kesler. I missed the third. Any clip of the Kesler/Ferland/Monahan scrum?

Yeah, but then it all goes back to your first sentence in this post. He makes $4.5 million.
Bennett and Ferland are much younger players making a fraction of what Brouwer makes, and Frolik has 44 points this season, and dominant possession stats. Bouma is an overpaid 4th liner.
Brouwer has 3 goals and 0 assists and is -1 in his last 10 games, to go along with being a black hole possession wise. It's also worth mentioning his last goal was 4 games ago. Just because those other players are putting up worse numbers doesn't excuse his terribleness this season.
Maybe with those other players slipping a bit lately, now would have been a good time to actually step up and fill the void for once.

I would love to see Bennett land one of his haymakers and cave in Kesler's face. What a chicken #### weasel - the Ducks are second only to the Oilers in my hatred.

If you have the video, could you put up a clip?
Looks like it's a back and forth thing to start to me. Not a huge slash by Kesler, and Frolik responds with a harder slash back.
I hate the Ducks far far more than the Oilers. The Oilers rivalry at the moment has more to do with the fans than the team they ice. The Nucks used to be my most hated team, but they suck now and their DB factors have moved on to play for other teams. The Ducks are firmly planted as my least favourite team in the league right now. Want them in the playoffs so badly.

Bennett's at least been responsible for some of the team's best hits over that span and he's had more chances to score the Brouwer and he's just having issues getting the puck in the net which I don't think will last forever. Brouwer isn't even physically engaged.
