Chad Johnson leaves Ducks game UPD: Gillies likely recalled
Appeared to tweak something in his lower body.
We'll see if he'll be out for any length of time and if Gillies/Rittich will be brought up.

Sucks for him, and sucks for us if Elliot gets hurt too.
Bottom line though, Elliot is our playoff starter so Johnson likely wasn't seeing much actio from here on out anyways.
Get Gillies or Rittich up and have them start the Kings game.
Gillies has a .920 or better save % in 7 of his last 9 games.
Rittich has cooled off lately but has had a really strong year.

With Gillies heating up for their last stretch drive, I think Flames let the AHL team ride him and call Rittich up instead.

Tom McCollum -- who was loaned out to the Charlotte Checkers -- was just named AHL Goaltender of the Month.
I doubt he's called up, but thought I'd just throw that out there.

Always a nervous feeling heading into the playoffs with only one goalie proven at the NHL level. Hopefully nothing serious.

Yes. The Flames still own his NHL rights.
The only rule is that he can't be loaned to another AHL team.

Good on McCollum for the accolades. The Checkers had a good month.
My reservation is that he's only played 16 games this season (5 of them in the ECHL). Otherwise a healthy scratch.

Super annoying. I would have given Elliott the start tonight and then Johnson against the Kings to give Elliott a night off. Instead, Johnson plays and gets injured tonight and Elliott has to play anyways. Now we're left playing Gillies or Rittich unless we continue to ride Elliott for the rest of the season without giving him a rest. Really not putting ourselves in a great spot to pick up some momentum heading into the playoffs...
