I really don't see the issue with the Seychelles meetings, if the idea is to get Russia to pull back from their aggressive warmaking in return for easing sanctions, that's a worthy goal for any administration. Backchannel diplomacy is neither invented by nor exclusive to Trump.

It's pretty tangential to linking the Russians to influencing the election, too. Whether or not it was a week or two in advance of his inauguration.

They weren't an administration, right up until the oath is sworn they were just private citizens having secret meetings with officials from another country, that is usually seen as treasonous

I honestly apologize, I didn't mean to make it as snarky as it clearly sounded. I didn't have time when I posted that, and if you look further I did expand on it. I deserved that. Again, I apologize.

Basically, if someone in Susan Rice's position needed to look at a piece of intel, she would do exactly what she did. This info would not have been shared to anyone without the highest classification, who could've ordered it themselves, unless there was something worth investigating.

The bigger question is not did she, as we've known only about 20 people in the country had the power to do it for months and she's one of them, it's why.

If it was political, why didn't they use it? If it was because they suspected something nefarious, isn't that what she's supposed to do?

I mean you'd have to be obtuse to be more upset that someone was looking into nefarious relationships than the the susbstance of those relationships, no???

This is simply nothing new except we have a face to the "one of twenty people"

The best part of this poll is the IBD/TIPP poll during the campaign was one of the go to polls for the Trump cultists because it showed him usually slightly ahead or only slightly behind. Now it's obviously "fake news"

Quote:
Just 34% of the public approve of the job President Trump is doing, as his support among Republicans and independents tumbles, according to the April IBD/TIPP poll. Fifty six percent disapprove of the job he's doing. Approval ratings for a president haven't been this low since President Bush's last months in office.

Last month, 40% of independents approved of the job Trump is doing; just 29% approve today. Among Republicans, Trump's job approval is 74%, which represents a 14-point decline from last month.

The latest IBD/TIPP poll was taken from March 24-30, and includes responses from 904 people across the country, giving it a margin of error of +/-3.3 percentage points. The national sample of adults had 34% Democrats, 30% Republicans and 36% Independents.

Across the board, the poll has bad news for Trump.

He lost significant support among his strongest backers: white men (which dropped from 58% in March to 49% today), and rural America, which went from 56% to 41% today.

Just over a third (37%) rate Trump's handling of the economy as "good" or "excellent," which is down from 43% last month. Only a quarter of those polled give him top marks on his handling of health care.

And 35% now say that Trump is providing strong leadership for the country, compared with 49% who say it is weak.

The Donald went pretty heavy on the bronzer today and has his unique "raccoon" look as he listens to a bunch kiss-asses throw softball questions in a "CEO Town Hall".

Nobody respects women more than Trump.
It's like he is trying to prove to every demographic that voted for him, how stupid they were.

Quote:
Donald Trump has been accused of damaging the prospects of female workers by signing an executive order rolling back Obama-era protections for women in the workplace.

The US President last week revoked the 2014 Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces order, which President Barack Obama put in place to ensure companies given federal contracts complied with a raft of labour and civil rights laws.

These included two rules that helped protect female employees: wage transparency and a ban on forced arbitration clauses for sexual harassment, known as “cover-up clauses” by critics.

No but the current allegations of Russian money being exchanged and use of foreign state resources in a coordinated effort to influence an election are extremely illegal. There are also evidence of lots of data transfer between the Russian banks, DeVos/Price family business and Trump businesses that show electronic communications between the three well in advance of the election. In that case, if all the allegations turn out to be true, it is no longer just a back channel for diplomacy, it's an illegal and treasonous activity as it is a foreign money/perks in exchange for influence scheme.

Wow, they've certainly hit a new low with that one. What a bunch of slimy, evil d-bags.

Meanwhile the Trump administration is trying to get the GOP on board with a new and improved Trumpcare plan, fully endorsed by Orange Hitler himself. Since he actually wants his name on it this time, I'm sure it'll be the greatest plan ever, and any failure will be FAKE NEWS.

Quote:
House lawmakers hope Tuesday to release a new Trump administration-backed version of the health-care bill they had to abandon last month in an embarrassing setback to their pledge to repeal Obamacare.

“We’re at that conceptual stage right now,” House Speaker Paul Ryan told reporters Tuesday morning. “We don’t have bill text or an agreement yet. ” GOP leaders barely mentioned health care in the private conference meeting Tuesday morning and offered few details.
Quote:
Late Monday, Vice President Mike Pence and White House chief of staff Reince Priebus met with House conservatives to lay out the details of the plan. One lawmaker said it could allow states to charge higher rates to sick people. President Donald Trump’s budget director, Mick Mulvaney, was also in the meeting.

House GOP leaders said earlier that no health-care vote is planned, but several lawmakers, including a close ally of Trump’s, said they think a vote could still occur this week.

Carter page, the guy who was part of Trumps foreign policy team during the election, his infamous interview is below, its kind of fun to rewatch it again after he has now admitted to being attempted to be recruited by Russian spy's. lol

Quote:
WASHINGTON — A foreign policy adviser to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign met with a Russian intelligence operative in 2013 and provided him documents about the energy industry, according to court filings.

The Russian, Victor Podobnyy, was one of three men charged in connection with a Cold War-style Russian spy ring. According to the court documents, Podobnyy tried to recruit Carter Page, an energy consultant working in New York at the time, as an intelligence source. Page is referred to in the filing as “Male-1.”

Islamic State said on Tuesday the United States was drowning and “being run by an idiot”.
In the first official remarks by the group referring to President Donald Trump since he assumed office, spokesman Abi al-Hassan al-Muhajer said: “You (the U.S.) are bankrupt and the signs of your demise are evident to every eye.”
“...There is no more evidence than (that) you being run by an idiot who does not know what Syria or Iraq or Islam is,” he said in a recording released on Tuesday on messaging network Telegram.

First off, HAHA. Second, he may be an idiot, but he has access to some rather large guns so you may not want to taunt him to much.

I'm not being defensive! You're the one who's being defensive! Why is always the other person who's being defensive? Have you ever asked yourself that?

Rasmussen too. It was the gold standard when it had him with a +14 approval around the inauguration, but now he's swung 28 points down to -14. He's currently at 43% approval in their daily tracking which I believe matches Obama's all time low in what is a somewhat right leaning pollster.

Closing the gender pay gap is critical to the economic empowerment of American women, and it is the responsibility of all Americans to come together in pursuit of equal pay. What a joke these people are.

People tend to take it relatively easy on Ivanka, but hipocrisy like that demonstrates that she is as much a cynical huckster as he father.

I know,
here's a paragraph out of a recent story on CNN

Quote:
With a broad-based fortune estimated to be worth as much as $740 million, the couple could benefit from actions taken by any number of corporate titans or foreign officials who visit the White House. Kushner holds lines of credit from Deutsche Bank and Citigroup, for example, and his family's businesses have sought investments around the world. Ivanka Trump has long used Asian factories to manufacture fashion items her company sells in America.

Wonder what Trump will do about Syria now after use of chemicals, if anything, after the Republicans bad mouthed Obamas handling of it for years.

In fairness, it was Obama's backing away from his "drawing a red line in the sand" rhetoric that left him vulnerable to criticism in that case.

Totally agreed, but a statement on an atrocity committed by a foreign dictator propped up by his buddies the Russians is the place to criticize the previous administration, all the while not commenting on what's next?
