I'm not sure what I hate more, the Anaheim Ducks or PGT's after a loss.
That being said, this team does need to find another gear or two again if they want to be more than just first round fodder in this years playoffs.
Now let's get a godamn win at the pond.

Just catching up here as I was at the game. I'm shocked at the Bartokowski reaction. My buddy and I were discussing how good he looked, he created a few chances and played strong.
Haven't seen a replay of why he fired it around the boards, but it didn't seem like anyone was open... still strange. Regardless, it's Johnnys dman who walks in uncontested and scores. And I just saw the replay of that last goal and Johnny let Shaw walk in as well. He looked good early, but you can't make those defensive errors.

Bart's mistakes were glaring because they ended up goals. I felt exactly like as if Wideman was playing....ring the puck around the boards on the third goal...fans on a shot on the 4th goal. Yes, it was even worse defensive coverage by Gaudreau or Mony. Having said that, both led to the ultimate sequence. Can't really be critical as they are the third pairing but adding Engelland playing poorly, it was a recipe for disaster.
I just hope this is one game. However, when you face top teams in the playoffs, those mistakes would cost you games.

That was a ugly fan on that shot but what was worse was Gaudreau chasing his check all they way back inside the blueline turn off towards the boards leaving him wide open for the goal. That was far more inexcusable than Bartkowski whiff

Guys it's also possible that we just got beat by a better team. Yeah, the last goal was bad and I suppose you could blame a few guys (Mostly Gaudreau in my opinion but Bart and Elliott aren't innocent either), but at the end of the day the Ducks are a really good team. I think the better team won tonight.
I will say though that the gap between these teams has closed significantly. Even to the point where I don't think it would be easy or likely, but I could see the Flames beating the Ducks in a 7 game series.

I said before the game that if I had to win one of the next two games, I pick Tuesday.
I'll stand by that statement.
But god, is our third pair overplayed. You would think Brodie-Stone were our third pair half the time just based on the shift distribution.

Can someone explain why no one on here spells Kesler's name right?
Anyway, despite the last couple of minutes, that was an awesome game. Playoff hockey preview in every way. But talk about leaving your goalie out to dry... Elliott's playing out of his mind, but he could probably use at least a little help there, guys.

Flames defensive and middle zone coverage and puck carrier pressure kind of weakened lately. It looked tonight as old hartley's passive box defensive system. Flames are particularly struggling against opposing team top line. Getzlaf had free highway into our zone many times. You ain't gonna win playoffs series with this. Let's see if they can adjust on Tuesday.

I thought the game was pretty good - some sloppiness on both sides and the Flames could easily have taken advantage of the Ducks' tiredness if they'd had a mind to. They just didn't pick up their speed game in the third and made a passel of pretty bad passes.
The last goal ain't on Bart: Engo is the lone man back and he points to Shaw who is just beside Johnny. Johnny turns the other way - and loses Shaw. Meanwhile Bart has run Kesler off into the boards - he still manages to make the shot/play, but he did his job.
So the answer to the playoff problem of meeting the Ducks is simple: Win on Tuesday at the Honda Center. Get some mojo going.

Haha. Yhis PGT resembles alot like the beginning of the season.
That game wasn't that bad lol. The Flames are not winning no cup this year anyways face it. There is the chance of a second round and with extreme luck a wcf. I dont think any team in the pacific as a hope in hell of even getting to the WCF . Anihiem might but we will see.

The last goal is pretty obviously on Elliott. Watch his post-game interview here and he owns up to it without prompting:
Roger Millions: When you know your guys aren't going maybe the way they wanted to up front, how do you pull (hold?) it together like you did?
Brian Elliott: Well... I mean we didn't. I can't give up that rebound there at the end and... it's just frustrating
That was a critical fan by Bartkowski though. He was set up perfectly by Gaudreau and the team could have used a big play there. Oh well. Kind of a stinker of a game by about half the Flames, particularly the Monahan line. Bennett and Tkachuk were almost invisible too.
On to the next one. Tuesday will be the end of the curse!

Dude, unless Nashville passes the Flames, and beats 2 pacific teams, there will be a Pacific team in the WCF. In you meant SCF, I'll point out that Chicago is the favourite, but if they fall, the 7 remaining teams have an equal shot in my mind.
I'm not bothered about this SKY IS FALLING mentality. 5-5 isn't great in the last 10, but it is pretty awesome that the Flames haven't been balls to the wall for a month just to get in. We know they can turn it on, and they haven't exactly mailed it in and not cared about winning.
If we are taking Bart out of the line up for a couple days, I'm surprised no one has mentioned Kulak as a replacement. I know he isn't on the roster at the moment, however, we know GG likes the lefty-righty thing, and Kulak has had some bright moments this year.

I actually took the loss better than I normally would(probably because of clinching a playoff spot) though I'm a bit annoyed they couldn't even get it to OT.
I know I'm probably looking at it wrong since the Oilers would be a more favorable matchup if the Flames keep the first wildcard spot but the arrogance of alot of their fans makes me really not want them to end up winning the division and make them even more douchy.

All I have to say is this is an adversity that this team needs to figure out. Ducks be damned! Now we get to see what our coaching staff will do to change things up and adjust in order to defeat a totally beatable opponent. This is what it is going to take for get us through the playoffs and get the cup. We need our coaching staff to be able to adjust as well as our players. I am going to the game on Tuesday and it is going to be the end of the curse! I know we can adapt and defeat these ###### bags! Can't wait!!!

The Flames need to teach Gaudreau that the front of the Flames net is not a blackhole. It will not suck him up and it will not prevent him from turning around to join the rush once the Flames gets the puck. Three times tonight Gaudreau did not pick up the man going to the net and that resulted in 3 goals and he was -3. Bartkowski and Engelland were bad on two goals tonight but Gaudreau cost the Flames the game.

Johnny is the goat here!
Play defense and take your man.
Granted Elliot let up a soft rebound.
Still on johnny! He needs to play defense if we are to win in the playoffs.

Chicago Chicago Chicago, Bring on Chicago.
There is virtually no way that Nashville loses more than 1 game of their last 3. With the last three we have, it's virtually guaranteed that we draw the Hawks in round 1.
