We didn't play remotely close to well tonight.

You're right that sometimes you play well and lose, but this certainly wasn't one of those games.

Ducks have been playing better than the Hawks lately

no sure why people want to avoid the Hawks at all cost...I think its a toss up which one would be a tougher matchup

Johnny had a bad game for sure but he's the leading scorer on the team and best offensive player so there are going to be nights where his two way game isn't as good as it could be. Just have to accept that's going to come with trying to cheat on offense at times but Bartkowski isn't paid or put on the ice to make risky offensive plays or turn over the puck. His gaffe's in particular were catalysts directly for two goals.

Oh one other thing. For the record I hate the Ducks almost as much as the Oilers. A very close but not that close second.

Yeah I think it's going to be a short playoffs for this team. They seem to be taking in a bit of water down the stretch.

It hurts not picking up at least the single point. With our Row and 2 points it probably would have only taken 1 win in the final 3 games to stay ahead of the preds. Should make an interesting cali road trip.

Bring in two guys for $7 million and there's $1.8 million more to spend on forwards.
But you can't seriously be suggesting that because we're absolutely screwed by Wideman's contract in the pressbox that we're paying $8.8mil for bottom pairing D-men and therefore $7mil wouldn't be that bad, can you? Because that's what it seems.

I only read the first few comments, but my god, Flames fans are stupid.

Bartkowski had a hell of a game. He made every single great play you could imagine tonight, and it just didn't work out. Yeah, he fanned on a puck, but he got back easily to cover his man and prevent a goal. Engelland lost his man and that's all it took.

Honestly, the Flames deserved better. They had bad luck tonight. Elliott made 2 or 3 great saves, but other than that, he had a pretty quiet night.

To give credit where it's due, Fowler was amazing. I wonder how long until he's considered a top 10 d-man in the league. He made exceptional play after exceptional play.

That sucked, but I feel like the hockey gods owe use a win in Anaheim to break the curse. It's time. It's going to happen. Textcritic has predicted it, and he studies ancient texts and some other bull####, so I'm pretty sure it's legit.

Go Flames Go!

If that was a playoff preview, I'm all in. The Flames will take the Ducks in a 7 game series just purely due to speed. I think we can take anyone at this point.

Starting on the road vs Anaheim is a recipe for a quick 4-5 game series loss. Give Chicago any day of the week instead of the Ducks. Some teams just have the other teams' number. Pitts has it vs the Caps. The Sens have it vs the Leafs. The Habs have it vs the Bruins. You know exactly who is going to win those series every time. Anaheim is no different against us.

When the Flames play the Ducks, the Ducks get us off our game more then anyone. You can see how the players lose their positioning. The passes are no longer crisp. And we often come out on the bottom in the physicality department. No team throws the Flames off their game more then the Ducks. The Flames try to play Anaheim's style, rather then imposing our will on them and forcing them to play ours. And that's always a recipe for a loss.

It will be nothing short of a miracle if we win at Honda Centre Tuesday. But that's wishful thinking.
I agree with pretty much all of this, except for the ugly loss part. I thought the Flames played really well in this game. But it's obvious the Ducks are simply not a good matchup for the Flames. Not just because of how good they are, but also because of the dark evil forces that f--- with our mojo every time we play them, particularly in their barn.

At least we've won a few games against the Hawks over the last few years. As good as Chicago is, I'd say the Flames have a better chance of upsetting them in a 7 game series than they would against Anaheim.

We'll beat the Ducks eventually, but it likely won't happen until Getzlaf, Perry, and Kesler are close to retirement.

The top guys with supposed "minor" injuries will receive the rest they need ahead of playoffs I'm sure.

I'd expect to see a couple healthy scratched when they play the Kings, seeing as it is the one not against direct competition.

Hope to see Andersson and Jankowski in the last couple games to see what they could bring as potential black aces in the playoffs.

Bart is safe for the rest of the year. He is left handed and they only have 3 lefties and you have to have a left and a right playing together every shift.

Yes. He is one of the best players in the world. Along with Getzlaf and Kesler and Fowler (among others).

There is a reason top teams are so good, especially in big games. The Flames best players are also world-class, but they are young and still learning. These playoffs will be good for them.

I don't care if you think Bart wasn't at fault on those goals, Rasmus deserves to get a game in his spot. If he doesn't get in next game he won't be getting in. Seems so waistful to have him in Calgary when he could be playing top line minutes in Stockton.

All true, but if we're expecting big mistakes to disappear when the Flames move guys on their ELC into the 6/7 role... then we're probably expecting too much.

Grass is greener, I get that, but I just don't know if what people want from the 6/7 role is something that exists on any team in the league.

I don't know because I don't watch every team's 6/7, but I can't say any of them make me jealous.

Pretty disappointing couldn't beat this team in a back end of a back to back. They sure do look beatable though.
