This is why I never wanted to see this garbage franchise ever make the playoffs again. Because for the next couple of weeks we are going to be bombarded with drivel like this.

Especially love this part...
It wasn’t supposed to happen this fast in Edmonton, but this team is big, fast and confident. And, they have the best player on the ice every night in McDavid.
Oilers fans might want to fasten their seat belts.
So apparently 11 years is fast in Edmonton. What is truly hilarious is the fact that if some lottery balls didn't line up in their favor, for the ten billionth time, they'd be missing the playoffs for an 11th straight season.

Well, I think your sort of missing the point of the article. It's not that the 11 years was fast, but in McDavids 2nd season the Oilers are possibly about to win their division.

The oilers have been really easy to laugh at for a long time now.
10 years and no playoffs?
29 years between 42 or more wins in a season?
4 1st overalls in 6 years?
Eakins, MacTavish and Lowe?
Tier 2 fans?
The debacle of monumental proportions?
You could go on forever. This is the 4th version of this thread FFS, and the first one lay dormant for over half a decade.
That's as funny as it gets in the sports world. Funny and pathetic.

Agreed. But we don't need a thread dedicated to Calgary because we are jealous of their averageness. I'd rather suck for 10 years and have a powerful team than 'do ok' like Calgary does every year.

It was a good run and take McDavid away it would still be running.
It is comforting to know that their improvement was 100% due to ping-pong balls in an air-popper though.
Without that they'd still be the worst team in the league.

Me too. It's hysterical how many Oiler fans feel the need to come in here and seek validation from Flames fans. The most common argument being "yeah we were bad but look at us now." So you want to just forget that the last 10 years the Oilers were the worst statistical team in NHL history? An Oiler fan saying to not dig up the past, when that was the only relevant argument you've had for the last 20 years (5 cups). I would've thought that the fact that most of the media has been fawning over your team all season would be satisfying enough for you, but nope, you need the approval from fans of the team that has straight up owned your sorry franchise for the last decade. That ties directly to the fact that until this season they hadn't won more than half their games in any single season since 87/88
