Realized this might be my last game of the year (Got 4th pick for our playoff games draft so Round One needs to go to 6 for me to get that game). They better win. A) they better win cause it might be my last game and B) they better win so they get an easier matchup so that my chances of seeing game 6 are better.

Do some of you know something I don't re: Iginla retiring? I know it's a possibility (probably a strong one) but has there been some confirmation?
I fear there may be a lot of onions in here if it really is his last game here.

I heard something on the radio this morning that made me stop in my tracks. Since the end of December the flames have only beaten a playoff team three times in regulation. And of those three times the team the flames were facing started their back up goalie twice. That can't be right, can it?

Quick scan of the schedule, that does look to be the case. (The wins part, unsure of the backup part)

Seems strange but looks like it's true (unless i'm missing something)
Jan 11th vs SJ - Dell in net
Feb 1 vs Min - Dubnyk in net
Mar 9 vs MTL - Montoya in net
Regardless it's clear that the team has made strides in the past few months - hopefully they can clinch tonight and fight for home-ice through the next few games!

The Flames beat the Sharks, Senators and Minnesota by Feb 1, and the Penguins twice, Nashville once, Habs once, Blues, so no...
Oh Regulation...to me that is meaningless, if they still beat them.

The regulation part is dumb. So tight close games with playoff teams is somehow a negative?

Yeah, even if you somehow discount the OT because it's not the same as in the POs, they played the cup champs, et al, to a standstill 5 on 5. In fact, they were ahead in that example and would have won in regulation but for the disputed Crosby goal.

Are those all since the end of December?
Anyway, whether its correct or not, it's fair to say we don't know exactly what the Flames are yet. Very young team, unproven but deserving of their playoff spot.
I can't wait to see what they can show once the real season starts. I don't really care who they play but a first round BofA matchup would be incredible.

It's somewhat true, but it also discounts the playoff hopes of Carolina and Tampa, both of whom the Flames have defeated in regulation also.

Since infamous train ride from Montreal to Ottawa on January 25, #Flames have most wins and points in #NHL, despite playing fewest games.

Exactly.
And also discounts the fact that it's better to win--PERIOD--than not, which the Flames were doing hand over fist early on. Regardless of who we played, the roll remains impressive.
Flames have some things to clean up game-to-game, but their overall team play the last two months allows them to compete with anybody.
