Didn't work out in the end, but that pass from Miller to Grabner off the boards was some impressive.

Bloody ridiculous these OOTs
Hopefully the Flames can go 6-0 to finish because they aren't getting much help elsewhere

And will be facing each other after this, which means they can no longer all win.
Flames just need to keep pace then take advantage.

Huh? You think people are looking at the OOT because they're worried about missing the playoffs? There is a division up for grabs.

Yes, we are all aware the Flames are a lock for the playoffs. It would, however, be nice not to have to face Chicago in round 1.

the point is freaking out about the OOT is crazy to me at this point...let the chips fall where they may. Chicago? the Preds lost so if that is your concern don't worry. Those 3 pacific teams that Won tonight aren't falling to WC2

Would people prefer the Hawks or Ducks?
As of presently, both options suck lol. But that could change depending on how they fare against Anaheim in these next games.

Wow Markov is tied after tonight for 2nd all time points leader among MTL defencemen. That's pretty darn impressive given the players that have played there.

Both of those teams are gonna be a handful no matter what. I think the Flames probably match up slightly better against the Hawks. Ducks are a well oiled machine right now, and they currently scare me more than any other team. However, if the Flames can actually win that game on April 4th and end the curse, I think our chances against the Ducks increase slightly. Just to get that monkey off this franchise's back would be a huge confidence booster going into round 1 (if we end up playing them.)
I still think our best chance of getting out of the first round is to play the Oilers. Our depth is far superior, our D is better, and Elliott is rounding into playoff form. Flames also have more playoff experience and know what it's gonna take to win games in the post season. Oilers are in for a shock no matter who they end up playing.

Ducks were impressive against the New York Rangers. Prefer we didn't draw them first round. But we are going to see how we will match up in the next 10 days. Gonna be good!

Agreed on every point.
It's worth noting that Elliott also helped the Blues eliminate the Hawks in round one of last year's playoffs, and stoned them in that game earlier this season. So he might give us a better than normal chance given that he's clearly comfortable in facing them from his Blues days.

I would rather have Chicago in round 1.
If you're going to lose a playoff series, you might as well go out against the best. If you win, then hey, you just beat the best team in the West. Bring on Nashville/St. Louis/Minnesota.

Regardless of where we end up, I think looking at our record the last 2.5 months, other teams will be wary of us, even if we're a wildcard team. There's an advantage to being the underdog as well. If we draw Chicago or Anaheim the pressure is all on them to win. We merely have to come in and play our game, which as of late has been very solid. We've beaten San Jose, Minnesota, Pittsburgh (twice) Nashville and St. Louis since Jan 1st. We've been one of the best records in the league the last 10 weeks. I think most teams are hoping not to draw us, regardless of home ice advantage.

Especially if the Flames can go in and say grind out the first game on the road and take away that home ice right away. It puts all the pressure on a team like Chicago. They have played awesome on the road almost all season and I've never been more carefree about home ice advantage before. The Flames aren't one of those good at home but .500 on the road teams. They're a winning team on both fronts and we've seen them grind out games with the best in both situations. I'm nervous when I think about games at the Honda centre, that series in 2015, and maybe a little about what McDavid did in 3/4 games this season, but then I remember that there has been a transformation with this team in the second half and with the additions of Stone and Bartkowski they are a different team now. It'll be riveting to see how the next 6 games go to say the least.
I love how GG and BT are both saying things like they don't need to weather storms any more, but are fully capable of initiating their own.
As long as the team is healthy I think they have a decent chance against anyone if they stick to the game plan the way they have since late January and play with that swagger. That's the difference between the system now and before. Bob's system could be countered by the bigger grinding teams, so sticking to their game plan then sometimes wasn't even enough to win on some nights. It seems that regardless of competition they don't get pushed around or severely outclassed in games now when they've played their game.
