Default This car!!

2002 Ford Explorer XL (located in Lethbridge)

140,000 kms!!!!

-6cyl auto
-air, tilt, tinted windows, cruise ctrl, am/fm/cd deck, remote entry, remote starter, alloy wheels with new rubber, runs great, must sell.

$2,200 obo

I'm debating if i should take a gamble on this, several pictures of it are listed and it looks in good nick, nice pain job, well kept... only down side is it has 140,000 kms in 4+ years.

Opinions? Dirty cheap and i could easily get 210,000+kms out of it.. not sure if i should buy it. I would for sure take it to a garage and get it checked out first - the obvious - but besides that... what do you guys think?

Also, list the cars you have that you have put tons of miles on in a short period of time, and how they run etc.

Thanks!

28,000 km per year doesn't sound all that high. I easily put 25,000 km on my car in a year.

Sounds a little too cheap to me. (ie what is wrong with it.) (Other than being a Ford.)

For $2,200, something is FUBAR with it. Guaranteed.

And oh ya, Ford's rule, Ken!

That price seems way too low for that vehicle. Seems like the previous owners just want to get rid of it .. fast. If it seems to good to be true, it probably is.

If you're serious about buying it, I'd do a complete background check on it. A lot of times if a vehicle is a 'Lemon' you can find it out online. You just need the VIN number. ... And of course do a complete mechanical inspection of it as well.

My last car was a 2001 Chrysler Sebring and it was a total lemon. I got it for a great price as well but I was soooo screwed over. I had it for a year and a half, did regular maintenance and oil changes and one day, out of the blue w/o any forewarning my engine completely died; due to oil sludge build up ( I had just had an oil change done 2 weeks prior to that). Huge problem with the 2.7L engines in certain Chrylser/Dodge vehicles .. of course I found this out AFTER!! (There are websites all over the internet talking about this problem - I wish I would have done my research before I went and threw my money down the drain!)
It would have cost me $6500 to replace the stinkin' engine and so I just cut my losses and fortunately was in a position to buy another vehicle.

I hope everything checks out for you b/c that would be a sweet deal .. good luck!

That's pretty cheap. Too cheap.... Most comparable SUVs are $10K plus.

Somethings fishy with it. Do a carproof at www.carproof.ca

It will tell you everything about the vehicle, but a carfax won't. It will even tell you if there have been any repair estimates, even though it may not have been a reported accident.

Actually, in financial terms it is a lien.

Well, called the guy....

Typo indeed.

The Year is not 2002, but rather 1998.

Still a decent price when comparing against other exporers of the same year.

If you take it to get checked out take it to Tom & Gerry's service on the North side...very good, very honest and very reliable

Low km's for that year

And still way too cheap for a 1998; unless of course that isn't the factory spedometer or something and the vehicle actually has 275,000 kms on it.
