It's games like this that remind me that this team still has a ways to go before they're considered a legit contender. The last half of that period was painful to watch, and they were totally outclassed.

Whether the Flames can come back or not, I just want to see a solid effort for the rest of this game. Move your feet for f--- sakes, and be smarter with the puck. Get back to the system that's made them successful over the past month, throw some hits, and please try and stay out of the box, because that Caps PP is scary good.

Don't disagree this team has a ways to go in becoming a true contender, but one period of being dominated shouldn't be a trigger for that. I think people falsely believe the true contenders don't ever very dominated or lay an egg for even a period. Truth is they get dominated for full games sometimes, but it just happens way less often to them.

It hasn't happened to the Flames much the back half of the year either.
