The Flames are going to end up playing Anaheim because they'll claim the Division on the final day of the season again this year and the Flames will end up in the wild card spot.

Going back through his posts is fascinating.

A vast majority of them are basically some version of:
"Wow (insert Oiler player) is great, wish we had him!"
"Flames are terrible, Oilers are ahead of us!"
"The Oilers sure do look good."

It's kinda sad really. I mean, are you so insecure about your team that you have to create a fake account to pretend to be a Flames fan to backwards compliment your own team? At least man up and just say you're on a Flames forum as an Oilers fan like the few decent Oil fan posters we have here.

Watching Iginla tonight was easily the highlight for me on the OOT - playing an old foe in a meaningful game seemed to energize him above everyone else on the Kings. I thought it was more fun to watch him tonight, than last night. I hope he decides to play for at least another season as he clearly can still compete in this league, brings respect to the game, and it is nostalgic for me to watch him play. If he wanted a spot on the Flames roster to end his career where it started and i was the GM, i would make room for him without hesitation.

I believe it is only possible as 2 v 3, what with the crossover... 2 good options - win the division or Oilers, 2 not so good - Ducks or Hawks...

If the playoffs were to start today, the Flames will be playing the Sharks.

I like that matchup a lot. Knock the Sharks out in round 1, KO the Oilers (or Ducks) in round 2.

Oilers won't be there in round #2. But I do agree with you about the Sharks. Unless they step it up into their 2016 playoff form. Still a good, deep team.

This one is my favorite:

the NHL playoffs are a bit weird... seems like finishing in the 1st wildcard is better for us? at least the way the standings are now...

would prefer avoiding anaheim in the first round if possible... not that I think they are that great, just that we haven't played well in their barn

Honestly, I don't like any matchup any more or less than the others. The Flames are on a mission, and will take anyone down in their way.

Bring it on, SJ. Bring it, Anaheim.

I'd be fine with the Sharks as well, Anaheim is the only team I'd hate to face and that's only because of the Honda centre curse. Minnesota or Edmonton would be my preference for sure.

If there's two teams I want absolutely no part of in the playoffs, it's the Ducks and Blackhawks. The rest I'm fine with.

It's possible for it to be 1 vs. 4 because the 1st place team in the Pacific Div will play the 7th place team in the conf which happens to be the 4th place team in the Pacific. The crossover happens if a Pacific Div team comes 8th and will play the Bhawks or Wild.

It's gonna happen and it could be for the top 4 in the div which would mean they could fall into the wildcard spot.

Yep, that is a bit of a shocker. I bet that coach Ruff is asking Lehtonen why he couldn't play that way over the past 3 months. Lehtonen makes 30 saves for the SHUTOUT. It is a repeat game when they meet on on Friday in Dallas. The Sharks have lost 3 in a row and have only 2 goals in that stretch.

Talbot makes 35 saves for the SHUTOUT as the Oilers somehow win 2-0 over the Kings as both goals were scored in the 1st period. Like it or not Talbot was the reason for the win as he held the fort in the 2nd period, the Kings had 19 shots to the Oilers 10.

The Predators win 3-1 over the Coyotes, it was their 6th straight home win over the Coyotes. Ryan Ellis with 2 goals and Rinne had his shutout bid spoiled with 3:55 left in the game, Ekman-Larsson scored on the PP.

The Leafs squeak out a 4-2 win over the Bruins, that was not an interference call on the Bruins which led to the Leafs 2-1 go ahead goal.

Lehner played as the Sabres beat the Red Wings 2-1 in reg time.

I was watching bits an pieces of the game and a lot of the 35 shots were from the perimeter. It would be interesting to see the shot location for that game as to me it appeared LA wasn't all that dangerous. There is nothing in their game that tells me they are going to go on a run. Scoring is still an issue for that team and they look like an old team, which is not a good thing when you are at the end of the rope for your playoff chances.

You do realize that just means they played the higher-ups earlier, yes? And they're second in the division having done so. No reason for opposing fans to complain about a soft schedule in this regard.

With back-to-back shutouts, Oilers have leapfrogged the Flames.

How did the Oilers look last night though? I couldn't catch the game. I know they were outplayed by the Canucks in their shutout win.

This time of the year is the best time to be a hockey fan.
