Tied for second in the AHL in save percentage, third in GAA and second in shutouts (5) with 22 games played. All his numbers are significantly better than Gillies and the Heat have started to give him more games lately.
Rittich has a .959 save percentage giving up 5 goals in his last four games with one shutout and a 4-0 record.
Gillies has played well recently too with a .926 over the past five games, giving up 12 goals with a 3-2 record.

I agree. I think the call-up is a good consolation prize but the Heat are finally recognizing Rittich has to be the go-to guy with playoffs on the line.

$925,000 includes a 10% signing bonus, so his base salary is $832,500. This season is 180 days long.
