Benefited from playing 3 on 3 maybe. Benefited from the extra point no. They only have 4 losses in extra time. The Ducks have 11 and the Oilers 9.

Amazing that we were able to fill our three biggest roster needs (top 4 D, top line RW, and starting G) and the only cost was a third round pick.
Bartkowski has also been a reliable upgrade over Kulakipakka, with no acquisition cost.

Brouwer has 4 points in 27 games since the new year. His line is consistently hemmed in its own zone and he has some of the worst fancy stats on the team. Combined with his history of disappearing in the playoffs, I have no idea what he brings to the team and hope they keep Bennett away from him for good.

Three on three overtime as executed by the skilled players on the Flames is lethal and very entertaining. I love the fact that it was already a strength under Hartley and translated rather seamlessly under GG's regime. Our guys are clearly better than the rest of the league at pond hockey, for which no apologies are wanted or necessary.

Wait, what? I thought he stepped up in the playoffs? Isn't that what everyone's been talking about since his signing?

What? Seriously. What?
When the game goes past regulation, both teams get one point. Then, whoever scores in overtime, or wins the shootout, gets a bonus point. Calgary has gotten the point 12 times out of 16. Anaheim has gotten the extra point 5 times out of 16, and Edmonton has gotten the extra point 9 times out of 18. You don't get any points from losing in OT or a SO. You get an extra point for winning in OT or a SO. How has Calgary not benefited from the extra point, when they've gotten the bonus point more than the Oilers or Ducks? The Kings have 11 OT wins and 2 SO wins. They've gotten the extra point 13 times, and are the only team that has more bonus points than Calgary's 12. The Kings have gone past regulation 20 times, so their percentage of taking the point is only 65%, compared to Calgary's 75%.
So, how has Calgary not benefited from the extra point?

The Flames benefit from the EXTRA point, they get a point from winning when the game goes past regulation.
All those other teams benefit from the LOSER point, they get a point despite losing when the game goes past regulation.

Yeah, he doesn't disappear for the playoffs, he finally shows up.
Sure as hell hope he at least keeps that up to make the rest of his season worthwhile.

Brouwer had 19 points in 78 playoff games prior to last season. It could be a blip or maybe he finally did learn how to step up in the playoffs.

By winning and getting the two points they normally would before the shootout was introduced. Look at it however you want but what's different with losing in extra time is you still get a point. That's where a team gets a point they really shouldn't. Hence bonus point.
I'll never be convinced otherwise.

I mean 4 goals in 43 playoff games with the hawks and 3 goals in 35 with the caps could be considered stepping up but I disagree. Granted, last year he was excellent in the playoffs but that is clearly far from the norm. I hope he proves me wrong, but for now, if anyone gets sat for Lazar it should be him. Anytime a player is talking about his retirement plans on the day he signs a 4 year contract should be a red flag.

So by your argument, any team that goes to OT would by default benefit by 1 LOSER point already. If that's the case, Flames benefitted from getting 16 LOSER points, and 12 EXTRA points.
LOSER point = OT point.
I know people are going to argue the OT point is different from the LOSER point based on semantics (as the one who won in OT isn't technically the loser), but they're the LOSER point what the OT point is being referred to. It's like people just like to label the arbitrary point that's exactly the same differently to make themselves feel better. And no offense, but that's pretty Oileresqe and pretty much the same thing as how Oiler fans keep harping how teams "lay down" for the Flames during their 10 game win streak.

You can't take away points for winning, but you could take away the LOSER point.
If you did that:
Sharks - 84
Flames - 80
Ducks - 74
Oilers - 74
Kings - 68
