The way Elliott is playing he saves at least two, maybe three of the four goals.
Flames not used to having to push behind by two this streak. I think they actually started having the defenders join the rush too early in the third, as switching to that style threw off the cycle and the forechecking and in general the way they had played when things were rolling the past 10 games. At some point they would've had to, but Boston is a good team defending and because the Flames got out of their comfort zone early, it prevented them from building some momentum in the hope of getting a pressure goal. Didn't work early in the third and they got more frustrated as period went on.

Which of the two goals that the flames scored would have gone in on Rask? The 60ft goal by Hamilton, or the joke of a shot by Chiasson.
I can tell you which three goals Eliott isn't stopping.
Actually both easily could have. Rask is not a stable goalie. My dad and uncle are Bruins fans and can't stand him. I didn't think the first goal was really that horrible. Stoppable but not horrible like the Bruins' first goal which had absolutely no business going in.
The way Elliott is playing the first two definitely don't go in. The third wasn't as bad but it was still bad. The last one was Brodie's fault.
I think Johnson would be the first to say he had a bad game. Second...the flames at 10-1 in the last 11 games and they they sit in third place in the pacific 9 pts up on LA.
Although not mathematical, Im fairly certain .500 hockey for the last 12 games would put them in as that would give the Flames 94 points and LA would need to win 11 of their last 13.
This was a two point game and not a four point game. Let's stand behind our team and continue to look forward to playoffs!!

It's amazing what bad goaltending to do to a team's game. We were doing alright and as soon as that goaltending circus started, right back to October/November. Can't win them all So it's hard to complain after that run. Hopefully Elliott is back on Friday though. That was bad.
I also don't think Tkackuk should have played tonight. A for effort, but he just couldn't bring it tonight.

I'm not mad either. Johnson's wasn't great, but no one else was. Boston had some suffocating defense. It's hard to fight through that. Flames had a few chances that they need to bury in a game like tonight.
On to the next game.

had to happen sometime, and to be honest, I thought we'd probably lose to either boston or pittsburgh...
now that said, calgary looked a little scrambly and had a hard time with the puck...not sure it that was them or the ice, but they just seemed a few inches behind or the puck would just skip over their sticks when it counted...
Calgary did seem to try cutting things too fine on a bunch of plays esp when they were behind... the 3-2 goal i believe on consecutive plays, the puck carrier tried to delay or toe drag it around the D... first result in a lose of possession, but the very next play, Brodie i think, tried to do the exact same thing and that resulted in the two on one break for the GWG...
anyways, i think the flames know that they didn't play as well as they could have, or needed to have, to beat a team like boston.
hopefully, this will get everyone to refocus...
i'd have no problem having Hamilton or Lazar draw in next game however; the team seemed a little too lax and the urgency didn't seem to be there...drawing on some energy may be a good thing

That game went off the rails the minute the Flames lost confidence in Johnson. I would definitely put the majority of that loss on Johnson. No reason to be mad though for sure. We just won ten straight!
It was a frustrating game to be at for sure. A lot of groaning from fans over biffed plays and all the puck chasing. Disappointed with the lack of chanting/noise once again.
The Bruins' possession stats don't lie, they're good at controlling the puck.
I already miss the streak. 15-3-1 is fantastic still. I knew it had to end and expected it to be Pittsburgh but got spoiled with an extra one there so I'm not gonna get too upset cause overall it's been great. Just wish it went out with a closer game.
Brouwer out, Lazar in
Wideman out, Stone in
Moose back in net
and hopefully we can get things back on track right away. Hungry for more wins!

It was a 4-2 loss that should have been 2-1 loss. Either way we didn't deserve the win. Let's hope the effort is much better on Friday and that Stone is close to returning.

I have this sickening, nauseating feeling in my stomach. I haven't felt this way in a long time. Maybe I better call a doctor.
Wait.. I think I know it now. This is what losing feels like. I totally forgot.
Anyways, Flames were bound to have a loss, and some losses look pretty crappy. Johnson played crappy, but the Flames also played crappy too. You can't pin this on anyone in particular, even if perhaps Johnson was the easy one to do that with. Flames didn't rally much. Way too many giveaways, and way too little sustained pressure to be considered 'in' this game.
Best case scenario for an outright loss - lose to a team outside the conference. Hopefully this gets everyone hungry again.
As for Lazar, I am trying to figure out who he steps in and replaces. The easy answer would have been Chiasson, but that 4th line (and Chiasson in particular) are doing well. I don't break that up. Bouma certainly does't deserve to be replaced. The obvious answer is Brouwer - but I find it hard to imagine Gulutzan benches him. New UFA signing, and they put a letter on his jersey right away... If I was Gulutzan, Brouwer would be the guy I replace, and hope that in doing so I light a fire under him. He hasn't been 'bad', but I feel he has been a passenger on most nights, rather than a driver.
Will be interesting to see who they end up replacing Lazar with anyways.
This game wasn't good, but at least it wasn't completely awful either. Not everyone played terribly anyways, but it was one of those losses that happen when a team doesn't start prepared or maybe just hungry enough - they just didn't compete and execute like Boston did, and neither team had the advantage of having strong goaltending.
I will just take some pepto and forget about this.

Even after Johnson let in 2 softies, the game was 2-2, and the bottom 4 d started doing some silly things. Wideman, Bodie and Engelland need to give their heads a shake on the 3-4 goals.
And let's be fair, the eye test tells me the bruins dominated the game after 2-2, let alone the stats.
Just watched it. Johnson went in cold with the unexpected start and it showed. Hopefully he will get it together for Dallas.
The rest of the team though were poor. I don't think they can be given a pass as a few people have suggested the performance may have stemmed from the goalie performance.
I'm not buying that. Go right back to our first PP before any goals went in. I know the Bruins are the best PK in the league, but that and our subsequent PP looked even strength. At best.
Hopefully they get it together for Friday. At least the team have earned themselves a cushion to deal with performances like tonight without it being too damaging.
