I highly doubt that.
The guy is 31 and has only earned a shade over $15 million in his career so far. The last 5 seasons he's put up near elite numbers, with only a couple stretches of "average" play. The only thing he has going against him is so far he hasn't ever carried a legit starters workload.
Hopefully the Flames can leverage his work load history, a slow start this season, and the fact that they are an up and coming team into getting him to sign a mutli-year deal with a cap hit much lower than you would expect for an elite starting goalie.
That way they can use the money saved to carry and above average back up (like Johnson) or to bolster the roster elsewhere.
Who knows with BT though. That guy leaves no stone un-turned and he may have a play of some sort lined up to get a younger starting goalie who's age would fit more with the core of this up start team. Re: Philip Grubauer
