A PSA to my fellow CPers -- after 10 straight wins (and 10 straight Gaskal ATL's):
EDIT: Meh, never mind. Let's go for 11!

Would be helpful if the ATL post number was added to thread title . . .

When I'm late to the party I just search for posts by Gaskal in the thread.

What a game. What. A. Game.
If future me came and told me a week into the season that we'd go on a 10 game winning streak I'd have had past me commit current me into a mental asylum.

Hell yeah!

I'm sure it's been mentioned already but Evgeni Malkin is unbelievable. He's just makes playing hockey look effortless. He's somewhat mesmerizing when he has the puck. Him and Crosby are so talented but they play the game so differently. Pens fans are definitely spoiled to have those two players on their team.
Gaudreau is pretty good too.

That's what we should name the gif. The Shootout Shutout!

Don't forget that not even a generation ago, they had Lemieux and Jagr too.
Some clubs just have all the luck, cough Oilers.

It's a pretty unassuming winning streak, really crept up on us as a fan base IMO. They won five to end February but only one of those was at home so it doesn't feel as real. Only started to hit home how hot we are at wins nine and ten.
Obviously can't keep this going forever and we'll hit a little skid before the post season but they're playing so well right now. It's not a team being carried but an ultra hot goalie, or one dominating line or player. The entire team is playing well. Every night someone or some unit will step up and lead the way and if they don't each line will pop one in like they did against Montreal.
Anyway it's pretty damn fun and nice to see the city talking about the Flames again.

So.
10 in a row, 15 out of 18, including a 5-1 win over the league leader, a 5-0 win over the other conference leader and two wins over the defending champions.
I tend to be careful about high expectations, but it's hard to not be excited about our playoff chances.

Pretty crazy they didn't three-peat as champs in '93. Jagr was 5th on that team in scoring with 94 points. 5th. Mario had 69 points and 160 points in 60 games... we can't even imagine those numbers in 2017. It's madness.

But according to the Oilers fans, all the teams are laying down for the Flames so it doesn't count and standings doesn't matter since the Oilers won the season series.

Out of thanks. Because I use Tapatalk app, and it doesn't count with the same page number as you would use a desktop version. Post # number is the best reference.

The great thing to also see that from a possession stand point this team is driving the play and leading more often than not in generating chances. This is the type of game you need to play to make some noise in the spring.

And where was Monahan during this win-streak I ask? Riding coat tails somewhere?
Only 11 points in his last 10 games?
Only a +13 in his last 10 games?
I mean, the guy doesn't even have a single penalty minute in his last 10 games, he's obviously not even trying out there.
Hugely disappointed with Monahan during the win streak. Lazy Floater. Guy is awful, Flames should expose him the expansion draft.

One thing that nobody I think brought up is Versteeg and Edmonton. Maybe Edmonton should have promised Versteeg a larger role on the team out of training camp? Haha Oilers lose in a shootout against the Pens, and the Flames win with Versteeg's shootout goal. Suck it grease faces!
There isn't a single Flame that has been playing bad. Even the whipping boys like Chiasson, Brouwer and Wideman are all contributing and really making an impact. This is how winning teams roll - from top to bottom, their players help drive those wins. That is what makes Pittsburgh so damn good right now, even in spite of the injuries. You have to really love what you are seeing as a fan of the Flames.
The only thing that was disappointing about last night was LA losing. I don't worry at all about the cushion for the Flames. I was hoping for a 3 point game and for the greasers to inch closer to being out.

Haha, I thought I was the only degenerate who was hoping for this result! No fear!

The 4th line was superb last night.
Every one of them was over 70% in shot attempts despite zero offensive zone starts.

Woot! Not too much to add that hasn't been said, just two things:
- I can see a light sabre being added to Elliott's gif there
- It was super fun watching Johnny's line being matched to Malkin's line, insane chances both ways all night

This is how good this team is. I truly believe that. This whole season we've been seeing our top players go through varying degrees of slumps and struggles. Right now we're seeing all of them play as good as we've seen through out the last couple seasons. It's all coming together.
The reason we're so much better than last year with a lot of the same personnel? Tkachuk over Colborne, Elliot over Hiller and GG over Hartley.
I'm pumped. No one is playing above a level we've seen before so if no one disappears into another slump I think this team can take on any in the league.
