Got home from work at 2am, but glad I took a couple of hours to watch this one. That was great.
I thought it was great a learning game for the Flames...the level that a motivated Penguins team was playing at, and what it took to stay with them. So a perfect night, they learned some lessons, but still managed to win the game.
If the Flames had lost last night, that was the type of game that a streak like that would have been acceptable to end on. Flames still persevered and pulled out the win. Just a fantastic game to stretch it to 10!
One thing that nobody I think brought up is Versteeg and Edmonton. Maybe Edmonton should have promised Versteeg a larger role on the team out of training camp? Haha Oilers lose in a shootout against the Pens, and the Flames win with Versteeg's shootout goal. Suck it grease faces!
There isn't a single Flame that has been playing bad. Even the whipping boys like Chiasson, Brouwer and Wideman are all contributing and really making an impact. This is how winning teams roll - from top to bottom, their players help drive those wins. That is what makes Pittsburgh so damn good right now, even in spite of the injuries. You have to really love what you are seeing as a fan of the Flames.
The only thing that was disappointing about last night was LA losing. I don't worry at all about the cushion for the Flames. I was hoping for a 3 point game and for the greasers to inch closer to being out.

I'm still in disbelief that this is our Calgary Flames team. A team that was in last place at one point this season. A team where a large portion of people wanted the coach and GM fired after 15 games. A team that seemed to have putrid goaltending from our main goalie acquisition. Our provincial rival spank, swept and appeared to have surpassed us.
But now we have become this? This...force to be reckoned with??
Now we are streaking to the top of the division. Our coach is the coolest guy ever. Our GM has become an even more powerful wizard. Our rival is in our rearview and slumping. Our #1G goalie is posting near elite numbers during a recent stretch. AND we have a back up who can slot in and not miss a beat. Is this real life?
Still can't believe it.

Last night's game was great and this has been a hell of a ride. I've got to say though, the Penguins have my full respect as a team. It was a back and forth game and there were times they gave the Flames all they could handle. On top of that, when healthy they would be adding Letang, Daley, Maata, Hornqvist, Hagelin, and Rust to that team. They are scary good and -with the Capitals- the class of the league.

Ever since that first game I've been calling him E77iott. I think I'm gonna stop that now.
