From the mayor's website:

So,
-Ripping off the middle hill of the Alberta flag explictly, like a cut and paste job.
-Somewhere the joker's hat is part of this, as is the Gateway to the North.
-The river valley is technically on the north and south side of the river, not east West.
-The slogan/statement that just trails off, as if written by Robert Bateman.
-It's just modernizing parts of the current flag logo, which is fine by itself, but in turn has to add funky colors, a river that trails off the hills, and Lisa Simpson's bad hair in the back ground.
And finally, it's only been a few years, but the itch that is the City motto that someone finally had the common sense to remove from the City's signs, was just nagging at the mayor to be scratched, and he obliged, even though there's no real tie into the flag at all...but is anyone surprised?

Defense.
Dumoulin - 25:39

Oilers fans acting as if their team is suddenly good.
They are currently 11th Overall in the league.
As I have pointed out several times before, since 1990, (their last cup win), they have not once finished either in the top 10 overall, or in the top third of teams overall.
NOT EVEN ONCE.
But no wonder why fans think their team is so great, 11th out of 30 would be their best season relative to the league in that time.
By definition, they are mediocre at best for 27 years now.

A coach who knows that is his only shot to win.
McDavid is going to have to have back surgery in a few years, from all this team carrying

Hated the 'anything you can do I can do better' crap that Remenda said with regards to McDavid 'responding' to Crosby. The biggest example of homerism was when Remenda was going over the entire night for McDavid but decided to not bring up the own goal; Hrudey and Ball would have had no issue bringing that up and would have had some good commentary around a play like that but with McDavid let's just pretend it didn't happen.

I am actually surprised he wasn't credited with an assist on the Malkin goal.

interestingly enough, the 3 in four years grouping is a fair counterpoint... though it should be noted that the 4th number 1 at year one of your sample, LeBron, wasn't in Cleveland anymore and his departure was the reason for the second implosion

True, however, the draft lottery was put in place exactly for this reason: to ensure no teams deliberately tank at the end of the year and to reduce the odds of teams getting multiple consecutive number 1s.
I fully admit to being annoyed at Edmonton getting McDavid...however, i'd be almost as frustrated with any team that had that level of incompetence rewarded so often. 4 #1s in 6 years? Plus a #3, #4 and #7 if we go 7 years...
In that span alone they've received 5 picks higher than what Calgary has drafted in their entire franchise...
that's flat out sickening.
edit; sorry wanted to respond to a couple of comments, but will shift back to the E=NG thread

A) why doesn't Edmonton just make mcdavid their flag?
B) that broadcast was terrible. Even when mcdavid was off the ice they would just talk about him. I wonder if they asked Crosby how special it was for him to play against mcdavid...

How hilarious was it when Kessel scored the winner in the shootout. The Oilers play by play guy couldn't even say anything for a second. A moment of silence. Then in the softest most dejected voice says, "And the Penguins have won the game." Just crushed. Hahaha.
I watched in on my PVR three times after that because I enjoyed it so much.
Honestly, they must have said the name McDavid 500 times in that broadcast.
Perfect that McLellan believes it is a good thing to play McLovin so much. Guy is going to get killed in the playoffs at the end of one of his 1:30 shifts.

Classic example last night of the truism, " more games are won in the first period than the third".
Pens were ready at the start. Oilers weren't.
By the time the Oilers woke up they were lucky to be down only 2-0.

McDavid has kind of smoothed over the problems with T-Mac as a coach.
He still hasn't managed to motivate or get good efforts out of his lineup outside of Talbot, Draisaitl and McDavid.
His sole job is to open the gate for McDavid. And when teams know they're playing Edmonton for up to 7 games in a row and prepare a more detailed gameplan then they normally would, I'm betting that T-Mac gets badly outcoached.
He couldn't get the Sharks over the hump, and he was just a bad coach in his first year in Edmonton, whining and crying that the players wouldn't work hard.
He's going to get punched in his stupid face by a crazy little thing called reality. And then Edmonton fans can sit there with their mouths opened in shock as they watch their competitive window slam shut.
