Those were obvies Tier 2 fans on the roof...that 6 month celebration, and the 9 garth banner hanging parties must have really shaken the building.

That is unbelievably low class. I had no respect for him in the past because he lets his fandom get in the way of professionalism.

But this takes it to another level. This is the comment of a teenager, proven wrong and knowing he has no choice but to admit it, but then trying to throw out an excuse to justify his original position anyway. Literally a 12 year old response.

What a moron.

I'm still stuck on this. If a particular team decided to make a comment like "Well, we're certainly not catching <team x>!", then that's the team's prerogative. But teams NEVER talk that way. Even the Jets likely won't admit that they're out of the playoff race until they actually are (for example). In this light, his argument is especially weak.

Like Bingo said, ONLY a giddily cheering reporter would make those types of subjective comments. A more responsible form of reporting might be to say: "After tonight's loss, the Flames face a tremendous task should they want to catch their provincial rivals. It isn't impossible, but it will be difficult."

But to add the part about "it's not reversing" is simply embarrassing.

Reading HFOil this morning we are totally in the Oilers fanbase heads. Then you have the few fans on that site that are calling us delusional because we believe we can beat the Oilers in the playoffs. They are scared

The pressure is on let us see how they respond tonight. I think a quick goal against them and they might start reverting to Oiler teams of yesteryear. The potential is there for this to snowball.

McDavid has a league leading 74 points this season on Edmonton's very middle of the road 184 goals (good for 13th in the league). That means McDavid has had a point on 40% of their goals.

We all already knew they were a team propped up by McDavid and Talbot, but 40%?? Shut down McDavid and you effectively neuter that team.

Edit: Now that makes me want to look at each teams point leader and see what percent of goals they have each been in on.

I'll be right back...

Okay. I can give Spector a morsel of respect for outright admitting he was wrong.

Most people around the the Oilers would never publicly do so. Dancing around the truth and making excuses is often what they're best at.

The bigger issue is they don't learn. Hopefully Mark learns to hold his tongue next time he writes an article about the Alberta teams. Teams that are regularly competing in the playoff know full well the significance of a regular season series.. It often means nothing in the "macro" sense of things. Which he also said.

And re: his response, actually Glen and the coaches believed the Flames were doing a lot of things right when they were in the midst of that losing streak and that things would turn around if they stuck to it. So wrong again, Mark!

I wonder if Oiler fans still talk among themselves how how Versteeg must be on suicide watch after ditching the Oilers for the Flames....... What a terrible decision he made.....

My only issue with anything he said was the comment around the Oilers being where Calgary was suppossed to be at this point. As though the Flames were the ones who have been rebuilding for over 10 years. As though the Flames were the ones that have had a plethora of 1st overall picks and picks in the top 5. As though despite all that, the Flames were the ones that got supper lucky and got lottery balled the first generational talent to come along since Crosby to add to their rebuild plan.

The undertone that the Oilers are doing such a good job that they passed the Flames in a race that the Flames should be winning. As been proven, it's not even clear that the Oilers have even passed the Flames at this point, but was should be clear is that the Oilers were given a 5 year head start on this race along with a whole bunch of steroids and blood doping that the Flames haven't has access to, yet somehow at best the Oilers are only keeping pace with us..............That's the story, not that the Oilers have miraculously caught the Flames or that the Flames have fallen from grace.

I can't believe how they hate CP because they think we have an inferiority complex to them, mainly because of things that happened 30 years ago. Their franchise has been mediocre since the mid-90's, ties a futility record by missing the playoffs for the last 10 years. They seriously expect no one to mock them, let alone fans of their biggest rival?

So the last time the Oilers won more than half their games in a season was 1989-90. To get there this season...they need to win 6 of their last 16 (or 11 of 16 if you use ROW). It would be so so sweet if they didn't pull it off.

Pretty sure it was 87/88

Gretzky was still an Oiler

Spector is a fanboy all right. But what really grates is that he pretends that he's not, with his stupid Battle of Alberta book and all.

No kidding. That is so grating to me. Like, #### you Spector you arrogant piece of garbage. The Oilers have been rebuilding for a bloody decade already and they should have been where they are this season, 5 or 6 seasons ago.

On the flip side, the Flames rebuild is exactly where it should be.

Yet that doosh nozzle is going to act like they are "out-rebuilding" us? get a grip buddy and pull your head out before you suffocate.
