this thread is the best. Not much to cheer about these days in Deadmonton.
I can't wait until the weekend is over and we are above them in the standings. Oilers suck, McDavid is the savior but also their down fall, ie if any shuts him down, that team is terrible. GFG.

How are these mouth breathers ahead of Calgary still with the same points and fewer wins? Is it goal differential that breaks the tie?

That's what I figured too, I feel it wasn't like that before though. When did that change? It's not like this is MLB, where if you've played one less game, you actually get a ".5" trackable stat added to your placement in the standings.
Even despite the extra game played, where fair enough, Oiler fans could say "yeah we're tied, but...", in terms of official standings, we have a better ROW than them. I feel like we should be ahead.

So apparently some Oilers fans are accepting that maybe there isn't a conspiracy and teams aren't lying down for the Flames. But then there's gems like this from HF;
Quote:
I don't think teams lay down for the Flames either, but I think teams bring more intensity when playing the Oilers. This team now has a reputation around the league, so it means more to get a win over us than Calgary. I'm not taking anything away from their hot steak, it's phenomenal, their playing with passion.
|
Now it's been shifted to beating the Oilers meaning more to teams than beating the Flames. I really like that logic of a team that is the record holder for consecutive seasons missing the playoffs is a team that the rest of the league is really getting up for. Nobody is arguing that the Oilers have a reputation but I think Oilers fans have delusions of what the reputation is. It is still the same as it's been for 11 years now and that's a reputation of being no good.

It just looks like passion to Oilers fans because opposing team can't just sleepwalk their way to a win anymore, as they've been doing since the beginning of time. They are confusing passion with consciousness.

Hmm...its almost like a hot goalie and a wunderkind and some loser points can only take a team so far...

Just like Principe asking Ho Sang if his first goal was more special because it was against the Oilers.
Deluded and no good.
