They tell me, don't bother with the tour and spending money, and once I was on the Tamiami Highway i could turn off at a certain road and to drive up the dirt road for a few minutes and there would be huge gators everywhere in the water and lying on the banks but do not in any circumstances get out of my car. So we start up this dirtroad, which looks like it was in the movie Deliverance, and sure enough there's gators everywhere. Hissing and charging at our car (I didn't really care as it was a rental). I decide i'm going to go up a bit further than turn around and head back to the highway to Miami. I see what I think is a big tree in the road and I look to my wide and say that it's going to be a pain to turn around because of that tree. She looks back at me and says "That tree is moving". So I pull up a little closer, and I realize this isn't a tree, this is a Bermese Python which apparently is now becoming a nuissance in the Everglades because some people started dumping their pets their when they got too big and the Everglades are an ideal environment for a Bermese Python. Anyways, freaks me the hell out as I hate snakes, I get a few pictures, of what I estimate was a 16 to 18ft snake, and leave. I tell the concierge at the hotel when I get back the next day and she tells me I should report this to Florida Game and Wildlife, which I did. I ended up having to fill out a bunch of reports and send them my pictures so they could confirm it was a Bermese Python (which they did). Apparently they go out and try and destroy all these Pythons as they are growing rapidly in population and disturb the environment greatly as they are now the apex predator over the gators.
I would like to see the pictures, please?

There should be a sticky with this story, the midget / seeing-eye-dog bar story and the Popeye's in Lousiana story.

Agre, keep writing.

not the craziest story.

I was getting driven from nayagan back to raduzhny in siberia. First off, the driving in russia is exactly what the videos show, it is crazy. There was a lada passing us going over 100km/h on the shoulder of the road, which was get sand, it was impressive, only to be trumped by them than turning into oncoming traffic to pass the next truck. at another point the center line of the highway was gone due to construction for about 10 km. The one lane each way suddenly turned into 4 vehicle across, like it was actually the line holding the cars in the right spot of the road.
Anyways, on the drive back I fell asleep in the car and woke up suddenly with the car hitting the ditch at high speed and the brakes being slammed on. I almost slam into the dashboard. Scared the hell out of me, I look over at the driven who with a deadpan face just says to me in broken english " I want to buy and watermelon". Sure enough there was a semi on the side of the road from the black sea region, selling watermelons. Maybe I should have bought some, but I was probably too scared to think in that moment.

Was at a pool in Highriver a while back. Saw a middle aged fella with a circle of young gals (life guards?) around him running their fingers through his hair. They kept saying things like luxurious and soft. Weirdest thing ever.

-I've eaten a deep fried tarantula
-I went to the Karni Mata rat temple in India barefoot and nearly crushed a rat underfoot, which I'm sure would've led to my dismemberment by the crowd.
-Saw this in China

No Clue how to post them on here, but can send you them if you want. You a snake enthusiast?

Just in case you are an enthusiast, here is the actual road turn off. Pretty amazing wildlife viewing if you are ever in that neck of the woods.

Turner River Rd, Ochopee, FL 34141, USA

The Alligator story reminded me of a time in Cancun when I was 9 or 10 years old.

My folks were taking forever to get ready to go out for lunch so my younger brother and I decided to wait out front of the hotel. This hotel is on the strip in Cancun between the lagoon and the Gulf of Mexico. We were standing across the street just above the edge of the lagoon with our backs to the water. Out of nowhere a Mexican pizza delivery guy gets out of his car and grabs a stick from a tree and starts yelling and jabbing an Alligator that was either resting or making its way up the bank towards us. It was about 10 feet away and started hissing and snapping. Apparently the two oblivious Canadian kids were a potential lunch date for a gator we didn't even notice. It was quite the commotion, and a couple guys from the hotel and the pizza guy helped chase it back into the water and shuttled us away.

I think there is also crocodiles there. If my memory serves me correct, they actually killed a tourist there a few years ago in that very lagoon.

I always thought Crocodio was Spanish for Alligator, but I think you're right and it was probably a Croc.

I think there is both alligators and crocs in that Lagoon. I didn't think there was crocodiles in Mexico, but someone told me once when I was in Cancun there was a bunch in that Lagoon that Senior Frog's backs on.

Oh, and I got held hostage at a ping pong show in Bangkok one time and they wouldn't let me leave until I produced about 4000 Baht. I had just wanted a travel story for back home to say I witnessed a ping pong show but the next thing I knew I had like 10 ladyboys, a few presumably genetic females, 1 mama-san, and a few bouncers yelling at me in Thai for trying to walk out of the bar and paying for the one beer I drank. That was cool.

But man, let me tell you, they can get some serious velocity on those ping pong balls. Also very accurate. I saw one other dude take one right between the eyes.

Myself and a friend once changed a significant amount of money with gold dealers in Cuiba Brazil. A dead end frontier town.

We arrived at 9am, were told to come back at noon.

Arrived back. Were buzzed in through a steel door, then down a corridor and eventually into a small room.

Sat down opposite some fella with a table between us and a good at least 40 bars of gold sitting on the table. About 2 x 3 x 4. Two other fellas with machine guns pointed at us. Was like a dream. At the end of the transaction, he laughed at our faces and gestured if we'd like to hold a bar. We gestured at the gunmen. He laughed again.

Picked the bar up knowing that it was going to be heavy but still way heavier than expectations.

Exited the dealership with the awesome strategy decided over a game of rock paper scissors that if accosted, the one with the money ran and the other was a diversion.

I witnessed an attempted double murder. Testified at a trial because of it.

Seen a few weird things in my day, but under horrific/awful, I saw a motorcyclist 95% decapitated by one of those single cable fences. Head was just hanging on by a flap of skin attached above the trap/collar bone. Ran up to assist with first aid, and just turned away when I got close enough to realize what actually happened.

It was pretty haunting, and considering I was riding that day, it definitely made me re-evaluate my hobby choice for the next few months.
