Prefer the Oilers. Been far too long since we had a Battle Of Alberta in the playoffs.

With the way they've been playing lately I'd say bring on anybody.
However my first choice would be Edmonton. It's been far too long and a playoff matchup would surely reignite the BOA. If the Flames took them out in round one the season series would become irrelevant and a distant memory, for Flames fans anyway. I think it's a battle that fans of both clubs should look forward to. Flames finish up the regular season with home ice advantage of course!
Mostly I'm just thrilled that we're even discussing this now.

The best bet is to avoid teams with good goaltenders.
So I don't want the Wild, Sharks, or Oilers.
Crawford is good, but inconsistent and the Hawks depth isn't as good as the Flames.
Rinne/Saros are both mediocre
Allen is not good
Bernier/Gibson are just okay
Quick and Bishop are inconsistent and a big ? moving forward.
So, ideally the Flames would face Anaheim or Chicago for realistic teams in terms of goalie matchups.
Honestly, there are no likely easy matchup unless the Flames somehow win the division and face either STL or NSH in round 1.

I think the Flames could potentially beat any of those teams, but I'd prefer either Minny, Edmonton, or Anaheim.
-Minny because we seem to match up really well against them and we won the season series.
-Edmonton because I think the current version of the Flames would destroy them. Sure they swept the season series, but the Flames were playing their worst hockey of the season at the time. It's pretty obvious that they're a different team now. My only real concern with playing those guys would be the favoritism towards McDoofus and biased reffing. I just have a bad feeling the Oilers would be gifted a ton of PPs over a 7 game series, particularly if things get chippy and McDickhead starts diving all over the place.
-Anaheim because f--- that team and f--- the Honda Centre. I want to see us finally get that monkey off our backs. Flames have more size and grit than they did in 2015, and they've proven in recent games that they can be competitive against some of the bigger/tougher teams (I thought they physically dominated the Kings in that last game). And seriously, how much fun would it be to watch Ferland and Tkachuk irritate the hell out of Perry and Kesler.

Ducks. Break the curse in Game #80, then stomp on its corpse in the first round. After that, nothing will stop them.

Just happy to make the playoffs. If I had to choose though probably Edmonton. I think they will fade in the playoffs, Calgary will want revenge from the regular season, and who doesn't want to see a playoff BOA. I also would not say no to Anaheim as it would be great to knock Kesler out of the playoffs.
The teams I am really scared of would be Chicago and Minnesota because they are two of the elite teams and playing them means the Flames struggled down the stretch and just snuck into the playoffs. I would prefer if the Flames played one of them in the West final after they beat each other up in the 2nd round. I'm also a little weary of San Jose as they are close to being an elite team and shredded their chokers label last season.

I don't want to play Calgary in the first round because it'll be cheaper to fly to Anaheim to watch a couple of games than it would be to drive to Calgary and buy tickets.
Oilers vs Anaheim just makes more sense financially.

Reading through HF boards oilers fans are getting real cocky saying they would kill us and physically out match us. I pray we get them so we can slam them. It would honestly make this season a success even if we get swept the next round idc.

Anaheim. Gotta break the curse sometime. Might as well crush it during the playoffs. Plus beating guys like Kesler and Perry would be satisfactory.

I think the better question to ask is..."Which Western Conference team wants to play the Flames in Round 1"?
I have a feeling that almost every one of them would want to avoid facing us at this point. Confidence and belief is flowing with this team and that's huge factor when heading into the playoffs.

Either Anaheim or Edmonton is fine with me and luckily those 2 are the teams we have the highest chances of facing. I despise Anaheim so i would love to play em too.

I want the Sharks. Don't like 'em. They should have to shave those beards when the playoffs start.

I was at the last BOA game. That was 1991.
1991 - Start of Gulf War and the GST, end of Soviet union and apartheid.
It's been far too long.
