Yeah, I agree that there are probably more outwardly ebullient broadcasters than John Garrett, but for most of them like Remenda, they view this as vocational. Remenda does not love the Oilers. He is paid to gush about them.

The difference with Garrett is that he is just like this: he has a deep-seeded irrational affection for the Vancouver Canucks. The difference between him and most others is that he actually believes a the things that he says.

Yea Garrett is brutal, I remember when we would get for colour in a game that didn't have the nucks in it and I felt like he was willing the Flames to lose. Him and Hughson are nauseating to listen to at the best of times.

I like Hughson, as long as he's not calling a Canucks game. Can't stand John Garrett. He comes off as aloof, a lot like Brian Hayward who is perhaps my least favorite color analyst not named Drew Remenda.

That's sad too.

Oilers fans always need to bring up the Flames when we are talking about the Oilers on a Flames message board.

Why does it matter what the Flames did 3 years ago? Nobody is saying it is a conspiracy that the Oilers get a tired team 25% of the games. It obviously has helped the Oilers this season and it's a discussion point now, no need to bring past seasons into this.

I swear Remenda hates the Oilers. I don't mind a bit of Homerism in the colour guy as they obviously are announcing for their market. However Remenda seems like he would rather gush about any team playing against the Oilers

I have heard this a lot from Oilers fans and I frankly do not get it. When I watch them—which is admittedly quite often—Remenda will frequently go to ridiculous ends about their "greatness." Maybe it is just his constant gushing about Mcboxcutter that I am projecting on the team as a whole?

Are you still tracking the 2013 draft point leaders?

This has literally been mentioned dozens of times.

Not that I care, I really do enjoy Rejean's crying, especially when he goes all tin-foil hat ranting.

I caught a couple of Hughson/Garrett feeds for games in a Canuck/Blackhawk playoff series...the sound of both of them deflating as the 'Hawks eliminated the Canucks, and abused Luongo, was beautiful.

It was almost humorous, EVERY play attempt by Vancouver, they screamed with excitement, then, reverted to the most depressed monotone, when describing each, and every, Blackhawk goal.
