It's still curious that many were extremely happy for Regehr winning a cup with them. I feel the same way about Robyn that new era does regarding Iginla. Eff him.

After this trade I hope the final standings in the Pacific look like this;
1) Calgary Flames
2) San Jose Sharks
3) Anaheim Ducks
4) Los Angeles Kings

The morons from the NHL network are slotting Iggy in on the top line.
Sounds like they haven't watched him since his Bruins days.

Uh they aren't morons, it's already been said Iginla will play with Kopitar.

Not sure if that will work if 3/8 of those losses are against the Kings.
If Iggy plays a role in those 3 losses, I will blame him

Kopitar only has 6 goals, I wouldn't trade Stajan for him. Stajan makes 3x less and contributes the same.
...you criticize the "morons" on the NHL network, but I'm guessing they've watched Iggy play more this year than you have. There's more to a player than stat lines, and sometimes where you are in the lineup impacts what you do offensively. You're certainly not going to argue that Kopitar is a bum at this stage are you? Perhaps his low quality wingers have impacted his offensive input, and perhaps Iginla is an improvement on those players?

It'll be good to have a chance to prove out this argument. Was it Col dragging down Iggy or vice versa?
I tend to think his lack of footspeed was causing his reduced icetime, and forcing him out of the top six, but we'll get a sample shortly of what he's got left in the tank if otherwise.

Looks like he'll wear #88 as a Gretzky nod.

Quote:
Iginla will become the first King to wear number 88, but it won’t be a first for him. He was an Edmonton Oilers fan as a kid and was so upset when they traded Wayne Gretzky to the Kings in 1988 that he bought a Kings jersey and put his name and the number 88 on the back

Even though it's obviously not the case, I feel like I just met my childhood hero and he turned out to be a jerk.
Just a weird, kinda sad, feeling that he went to LA and that he changed his number. I wonder if the number change affects me more. Jarome is 12 and 12 is Jarome. What is life anymore?

What I think is that it shows desperation. The window for the team is closing and the way they are structured they won't have much cap room to maneuver. I think it was Loubardias who pointed out that that the previous two deadlines lines they traded first round picks for players that aren't even playing for their team (Sekares and Lucic). Hoping an almost 40 year old can come in and give them some scoring they lack. It screams desperation.
