Treliving on Fan960 right now talking about Stone.
Feels pretty confident the Flames are Stone's destination of choice (family reasons).

Oh wow, I thought it was 7+3 or 6+4. Then it's a no brainer.

I really think the Flames are one of the best positioned teams for the expansion draft...it won't be a major blow

Stone wants to live here post-career for sure. Now he can play it out.

I am ok with the trade overall. However, I am not so worried about losing a 2nd round "pick" I am more worried about the loss of it as a currency that could be used during the draft to pick up a potential player for our roster for next season.

I'll take their word over your endlessly pessimistic view any time, especially when your hyperbolic take is based on absolutely over-valuing a low percentage draft pick.

Super. No need to agree with me.
Same scouts that haven't been able to produce one NHL'er outside of the top 10 yet? Including two first rounders?
Yeah they're flawless.

lol, beat me to it. (having no faith in their opinion on Lazar but blindly believing they'll pick a Subban / Bergeron)
As usual, Polak just doing everything he can to be needlessly pessimistic and negative.

odds favor the Flames there is no debate
maybe the Sens hit a homerun, very unlikely
|
Agreed with the first part. However if the Sens turn that pick into currency to pick up a legit NHLer aka Dougie Hamilton trade, then it hurts a bit more if it ends up taking us out of the running for someone we would want.

Picking at the draft gives them the benefit of consensus rankings. If they went way off the board in the 2nd round I'd probably think it was dumb too.
Jesus, I don't like a trade so I'm needlessly negative? I loved the Stone trade. Still do. Not everyone is going to convince themselves that every move the Flames make is a good one.

With a list like that, McPhee would probably be wise to just sign Engelland early in lieu of his expansion selection.

I think it has to do with the fact that more often than not you are needlessly—and bombastically—negative.

Not Klimchuk. He's only a second-year pro.

This is a terrible draft, and the "consensus rankings" will mean very little when they get to the 50s +. Just another reason why that 2nd is even more of a crapshoot.
On the reverse, we're talking about a known commodity who they've scouted at the NHL level for some time.
You can not like it all you want. It's the flawed, hyperbolic reasoning and the incessant going on and on about it that the typical Polak negative nonsense.
