I find it funny that it's the usual suspects blowing this way out of proportion.
Polak posting several times per page whining. Flash Walken suggesting it's against the philosophy of the franchise.
A 2nd in such a poor draft is really not a terrible gamble here. Certainly not to the degree a couple of people are suggesting.

The guy was very ill to start the year then in and out of the lineup. I wouldn't read too much into those 33 games.
Put more stock into his 20 points in 76 games last season.
Come to think of it..you know who has had similar stats the last couple seasons? Michael Ferland.

A 2nd in a weak draft is the definition of a magic bean. Lazar has 170 games played. If he sucks, we'll know a lot sooner than we would with most 2nds.
Kostka for Jokkipakka seems like a wash to me.

I haven't seen it mentioned here, but I'm guessing that they also want to keep some space available on defence in the event that Brandon Hickey turns pro this year.
