A pretty meh move, depth player. Kostka is a AHL'er, so nothing there.

This is a trade that could improve us for the future. Can't really say he's a bust just yet. Can only cheer the guy on and hope he gets better on our team.

But I think this team can make some noise in the playoffs personally and Vrbata helps more than Lazar at this point
Thanks for clarifying. I just don't see where Vrbata would have fit on the roster. Ferland has played too well to bump him. Frolik goes nowhere, I don't see Brouwer going to the 4th line.

This is a bad deal.

His counting stats stink, his possession stats stink. The only thing to remotely like about this trade is that we got a guy who resembles Thor.

Classic over reaction by the usual suspects. Let's check back in to see how the 2nd round pick does compared to Lazar.

So those last two protected forward slots for the expansion draft come down to... Ferland, Brouwer, Frolik and Lazar?

so this means Flames will be using a protection slot on Lazar right? or is Treliving going to risk losing him for nothing? or give something up to Vegas NOT to select him

Meh waivor waiver player and a 2nd in a garbage draft for a likely borderline NHL player

God damn. I haven't hated a trade this much in ages?
Why?

He was OK last year as a 20 year old. This year, had Mono in training camp, and anyone that has it can tell you that it wrecks your body for a long time.

You traded almost nothing for him (a 2nd in a poor draft) for a 21 year old lottery ticket. Even if he doesn't pan out, the cost isn't bad.

Why hate this trade so much?

ETA: Also, an RFA coming off a bad year. Cheap price tag in the off season.

Everyone who spits bile at Baertschi for his trade request should dislike Lazar as much, as I understand he went to management and said "play me or trade me" as well.

Anyone want to just admit to being a hypocrite and having different standards for players who get moved out vs. brought in?

People looking at Lazar's point totals this season should remember that he was playing with Kelly and Neil most of the time. If there ever was a black hole for offense to rival the legendary Shaun Van Allen, Kelly and Neil would be it. One can only imagine the wonders it must have done to Lazar's confidence.

It nearly destroyed Smith's career to be anchored by Neil and Greening, but he bounced back nicely. I hope Lazar will as well.
Sens fan from HF.

It's a good gamble if Lazar can turn it around.

Exactly. There's plenty examples of young players turning things around after a change of scenery. Tree and our scouts definitely see something in Lazar.

Love this trade. This fits where we are in our building process.
