Really like this move. Weak draft and bad defenseman for a reclamation project. Hope it works out well for everyone.

In a weak draft year Lazar is better than anyone we would have gotten in the 2nd round IMO.

I am alright with a second - not a huge fan of having to protect him in the expansion draft though. Means we are probably comfortable exposing Brouwer.
Would have preferred Strome from the Islanders but a young RH, reclaimation project is what I was hoping for.

Would rather have gave up the pick for Vrbata but meh.
I'm fine with this

Seems a risk with taking. He has upside, and a change of scenery could be the thing that kickstarts things.
I like this thinking toward the future, rather than using the trade of a pick for a pure rental.

Bleh, why? We're still building here. Not the time to be spending assets on rentals.

I'm good with this!
Also...brings Flames 2013 first round count to FIVE (and I appear to be the 500th person to mention that here)

I hate the echo chamber that is draft analysis.. but by all reports it's a really weak draft. Boy pieces they got are potential futures as well so they're not going out for pure rentals.
Stone is 26, Lazar turned 22 a month ago. These are both moves with the future in mind.

I'm fine with this too, I'd rather have Lazar then what we could get at number 50ish.

He's so young, we can rebuild him. Wasn't playing much minutes in Ottawa and our second is like a 4th in any other year.
I think this a solid trade for depth.

Being a RWer he should be given a lot of opportunity with the Flames. Now it's up to him to succeed or not.

Yeah this is basically just drafting our second rounder right now except for a guy that's closer to being an NHL contributer and who still has high upside.
I think the price is about right. Ottawa wouldn't part with him for less, why would they?
