mainly cap space.. if they can move him out without taking salary back they can avoid bonus overages for next season.

By no means is it guaranteed to happen, but LA showing some interest in Jarome Iginla, who has full NTC, and interest may be mutual.

Wideman is still a member of the Flames. I don't think Burke is in the business of directly throwing current players under the bus, saying they're not part of the team. As long as they're a Flame, they are part of the team, and saying otherwise is low-class and unprofessional.
What would you expect Burke to say?

It becomes meh, he's been on the opposing teams forever, now he may just end up an enemy.
Who cares, hopefully a few heavy checks and he's irrelevant in that case. But I doubt it guys got a tank that hasn't been used this season.
