Default Woo-Hoo My Car Was Broken Into!!!

obvious sarcasim in the title,

just looking to see if there's anything else I could do, should do regarding my car being broken into.

Happened at work mid-day sometime between 8:30 and 2:15 (I had a meeting to go to and saw that my car's back window was in an odd broken shape)

Not much missing, just a satellite radio. They left bridge tokens, my parking pass, and the box of halloween chips.

Called the police, gave them as much info as I could, left a message with the building's security.

Anything that could be fingerprintable, I put in a bag (picked up by the edges with the bag).

Called to book an appointment to have the window replaced (they're doing it tomorrow).

Anything else anyone can think of? I just want to have the bases covered.

Cheers,

And have a great crime-free day

where was your car parked? if it was in a parking garage (i believe that canadians call them parkades), then there might be a security camera and you can see the culprit?

Hate to be the one that says this but nothing will get fingerprinted - wasting manhours on a couple hundred dollar reciever just won't happen

If you have insurance it likely wouldn't be worth your while to claim anything after the deductable not to mention the possibility of the claim coming back to bite you in the ass.

I've had my car broken into as well. The police won't do anything other than giving you a case number that you can take to your insurance. They won't be interested in taking fingerprints.

With my car they didn't break the window, they jammed something into the keyhole and screwed up the lock, so I had to have it replaced. I had a $100 detucable, so between the locks and the stereo they stole, it was worth it to go through insurance. If you have a larger detuctable though it may not be worthwhile to go through insurance.

Have you called Sirius/XM to cancel your subscription?

Also, you may want to call the insurance company before you replace the window if you're going to try and claim the damages on insurance. In my case they wanted to photograph the damage before they paid out any money. I had to take my car to them, they then inspected the damage and took pictures, then gave me they money for the claim.

What messed up priorities. I would've taken the chips. And parking passes are like gold.

hey thanks guys,

more wanting to cover my bases than anything. I'm not going through insurance, cost to replace the window is affordable, and I still have my factory CD player.

The parking pass can easily be cancelled (it's electronic) so it really isn't worth anything to them. Bridge tokens I don't see why they didn't take, not traceable, who can't use bridge tokens?

The chips, agreed, I wonder if they atleast took a bag? (I took a few out of the box when I got it, not sure how many, so I can't check).

I'm not down really, like I said just want to have all the bases covered.

If you had any fuel tags (Shell EasyPay, Esso Speedpass) make sure they didn't take them. They're as good as cash.
