Sorry, but you are completely out to lunch on Burrows. Burrows is a repeat offender in the eyes of the NHL and known for low hits, slew-footing, hitting from behind, and head hunting. I've posted an article from the hockey news below which goes over some of his history. I think I'm going to lend some credence as well to a recently retired NHLer being on record calling him the dirtiest player in the league.

I always find it hilarious that someone actually used to pay Adam Proteau to share his hockey opinions. There are plenty of posters on this site I'd rather read. That article was utterly stupid. The only actually dangerous play in it was the hit on Emelin, for which he was suspended (for what I think is the only time), and even that is more reckless than a deliberate attempt to hurt someone. As to the rest, well, if the worst thing he's done in 800 games is this http://abload.de/img/hhfjl2u15.gif then he's got a ways to go before he even catches up to Brad Marchand in rattiness.

I'm not going to spend a bunch of time getting dragged into an argument about Alex Burrows of all people - enormous waste of time - but it's fairly crazy to suggest he's the "dirtiest player in the league". I get that you hate him, I even get why, but suggesting he comes anywhere close to someone like Neal, or Torres.

You're still using a long winded and round about way of justifying the fact that you most likely have cheered for him as a Canuck fan by pointing out there are other dirty players in the league.

Who cares.

The handful of cheap-shot artists in the NHL don't alleviate the disgusting acts / comments Burrows has perpetrated. You suggesting their are some kind of hypothetical and universally accepted tiers of shamefulness is just a lame attempt at deflecting / excusing he and his actions

There are tiers of shamefulness, as far as I'm concerned, and intentionally doing stuff that can end careers or put other players out of action for long stretches is the top tier. That's what I said to begin with.

Whatever, that's just how I see it... it's not like I'm going to convince you guys when you're this worked up. Like I said, waste of time. Have fun.

I just fail to see what your distinction was supposed to accomplish.

You said you reserve your "real" animosity for those who attempt to injure people (something Burrows had done, but whatever).

Again, we're talking about a guy who mocked someone for being abused as a child. Repeatedly. Among many other disgusting things.

You're attempting to suggest that by contrast, that isn't that bad? Or is slightly less bad because of a few other offenders?

I guess we'll let the logs reflect you chimed in to let us know a handful of other people are also poor excuses for human beings.

Seems to me the only ones really worked up are those trying to excuse / downplay Alex Burrows deplorable behaviour.

Your out to lunch on this one, Burrows is as cheap as they come - worse even because he turtles after he causes ####.

Crotch shot on Staal

Did he leave his feet?? I don't think so... embarrassing John Garrett

Blindside hit on Johnny + dropping gloves/jumping Russell

Hair pulling ... yes hair pulling

Flying cross-check to the face - 5 and a game

Plus the Gaustad blindside, the cheap shot on Mcdonagh

I can see why you don't want to get bogged down in this argument because it's obvious that burrows is a big a POS as Neal and Torres.

Nothing there that even comes close to the guys you're comparing him to. Lots of dirty, not much seriously dangerous. I mean, the thing on Brisebois is a pretty typical high sticking penalty you could see on any given night. Seriously. Look at what Neal and Torres have done to people, you're out of your mind for comparing them. That kind of false equivalence is why nothing serious ever happens for player safety.

Yeah, by contrast to kneeing people in the head or spearing a guy in the face with your stick, being a complete a-hole to a guy you're playing against to try to psych him out is, indeed, less bad. Considerably less bad. Of these things, when done outside of a hockey game, some would result in being thrown in prison. Others wouldn't. There's a reason for that. I think there is a distinction between these two types of players, and I think that many people, including you, seem not to prioritize these offenses correctly. That doesn't mean that I think there aren't lines players shouldn't cross or that they aren't total dicks if they cross them - see racial slurs directed at Wayne Simmonds, for example.

Have I been clear enough here for you yet as to what I'm saying? Again, I know it's pointless to try to convince you, I just want to make it clear that I'm not defending the guy; he's a grade a ####head. I'm just saying there are worse things to be, and that guys like Neal and Keith and Marchand seem to get away with it because they're also really good at hockey. That baffles me.

####, stop it, you people have me sort of but not really saying non-critical stuff about the guy. I mean, it's the most tepid support ever, but really. That's annoying. Officially my last post on this.

Burrows is a cheap-shot artist in his own right, in addition to all the cowardly disgusting comments. He might not be the worst at the physical infractions, but there's enough of them he can fairly be bestowed with that label in addition to all the other horrid, cowardly things he's said and done.

Burrows got away with plenty in his career bro - just look at that Marc staal joke of a video. He has no respect for other players and he has always played the game on or as close to the edge as possible while crossing it many times. I won't 'stop it' when it comes to this turd because we've had to deal with him for over a decade along with that worse POS Torres and other ######bags like Cooke, Kesler, Ruutu, Bieksa and on and on. The nucks have been the slime of the league for so long he happy your finally seemingly almost done with it.

That Brisebois crosscheck is as dirty as they come, deliberate attack to the face with his stick in a forward motion, it's how you knock teeth out and is a complete headshot. He did it again this year against the leafs when he faked falling on the ice and speared Riley while falling forward.

The thing with Burrows, the thing that makes him so dirty, is that everything he does is calculated, you can tell its premeditated for the most part.

I am asking because I don't remember: does Kieth have a history of dirty and dangerous play? I can only recall the one incident.

Which incident? Keith has multiple instances of deliberately mashing people in the face with his stick, forget general injurious play. With him, the issue is that it's almost always a retaliation thing, so the intent is pretty obvious.

Just saying that if I went to 7-11 and delivered a flying cross check to the cashiers face I'd probably be facing criminal charges.

Feels like a poor trade by the Senators. Dahlen Jr. is a legitimate prospect, although probably not quite Filip Forsberg class.

The Sens are odd. They are notoriously cheap, but when they do spend money it leaves everyone scratching their heads.

What's worse? Burrows hit on Gaustad or McLeod on Baertschi? Both looked similar and you guys saying McLeods wasn't cheap

Good for you? Don't understand why we can't hate both types of players. It's a free country and scumbag Burrows deserves all the hate he gets.

You're not the judge on who we can hate and who should get priority. I hated Marchment when he was a Flame and wanted him out of the league and at the same time wanted Burrows out of the league. Both scumbags, albeit different types, but both should have been out of the league long time ago and we definitely don't need you telling us who we should hate more.
