Anyone that watched the Stars this year, can Sharp still skate? Could he keep up with Gaudreau & Monahan?

Honestly, I wouldn't even mind bringing Sharp to Calgary. Played with Kane and Toews for a long time and won a few championships. Could easily mentor our very own Kane and Toews in Johnny and Mony.

Looks like he has some fuel in the tank left. Not blazing speed but should be able to keep up:

Would Sharp for Dougie be a fair deal in your mind? Or would Brad have to sweeten the offer?

I know this is probably more of an offseason type move but, with the the Devils looking like it's time for a rebuild any idea what it would cost to get Palmeri out of there. Signed for 4 more years @ 4.65 thirty goal scorer last season RHS RW and only 26. Seems like a more realistic target than say Oshie or the like in free agency. Maybe a second and a prospect like Shinkaruk that we wouldn't be protecting in the expansion anyways? Just seems like a decent and affordable option.

Definitely not. Dougie should be off the table unless we're getting huge overpayment for him. He is a core piece of our defense with a great shot and deer-like skating abilities. No way I'd trade him for a washed up Patrick Sharp.

Sharp also prefers to play his offwing though, so RHS LW. Not sure if he would be much of an upgrade over Ferland in that spot. The veteran leadership presence aside, I just don't know who he's an upgrade over.

It's in reference to Rough having an excessive hatred for Dougie, not a serious proposal. Then again with the deer comment in your post you may have already picked up on this.

Makes sense though. Few great looming UFAs, more parity in the league leading to less obvious buyers and sellers, and the year before an expansion draft that goes to have all kinds of ripples. But yeah, dullest trade deadline in recent memory. I'm ok with that though, I'm solid on our goaltending tandem, I suddenly like our defence and there isn't a good RW available, the only position we could justify spending on.

Younger legs on Monahan though.
Sharp would be taking more shifts, 1st line minutes etc. Can he keep up with the pace of the game. That too.

We've got no cap room at all. We can't get Sharp and we do not have the extra assets to trade for Sharp.

We have about $2.8m in cap space left and and Sharp has about $1.3m remaining on his deal, so there is space to do the deal.

2m in cap space at this point is enough to bring in even the most outrageous contract given the amount of time remaining. Also do we not get a little leeway from LTIR?

Also on Wings: Multiple teams after Sheahan, Tatar and Nyquist still being talked about, Ott's out there. There's activity in Detroit.
