Massive overreaction. Forsbeeg was a high first rounder that slipped tot he Caps at 13th. He was extremely highly touted. Not everyone knew who Dahlen was (myself included) until this trade was announced

So Dahlen is actually exceeding what Forsberg did in his draft + 1 season.

Senators fans have the right to be pissed off about this one IMO.
he compared well in draft seasons too

Pastrnak 36-6-18-24
Forsberg 43-8-9-17
Burakovsky 43-4-7-11
De La Rose 38-6-6-12
V. Rask 37-5-6-11

Dahlen 51-15-14-29

lots of European scouts were high on him from reading at a few places but he wasn't well known in NA

Didn't Dorion just say last week that GM's were trying to fleece him in trade offers? Maybe I'm thinking another GM. Of all GM's to fleece him, it's Dim Jim.

Eh, you knew if you watched the WJHC at all. Dude had a bunch of goals.

Between this and the TOR and MTL trades, it's pretty clear that the prices are high this year... makes me wonder if trading Wideman for something other than a used gym bag might actually be achievable.

Also some other recent comparisons who played in the SWE-1.

Alexander Wennberg (in his draft season).

SWE-1 GP: 46 G: 14 P: 32

Andre Burakovsky (in his draft season).

SWE-1 GP: 43 G: 4 P: 11

Senators fans have the right to be pissed off about this one IMO.
Of course they should be pissed, and Dahlen is a terrific prospect, but he is not on the same level as Forsberg. Forsberg was a fair bit younger than these other players in his Draft + 1 season.

So he had a NMC and would only waive it if he got an extension? I only suspect that as I read that Ottawa was the only team that offered him an extension?

If thats the case not a bad prospect to get from Vancouver's perspective.

Can't believe an NHL GM would be this dumb, besides Benning. Dahlen is a nice looking prospect but knowing the Canucks they will probably rush him. Very idiotic trade by the Sens.

The astronomical high hopes of Vancouver fans who are so utterly starved for something to be exited about couldn't be more funny.

Dahlen a potential Forsberg? lol

Came into this thread hoping Benning made another stupid trade to further sink the Canucks, leaving disappointed.

It's pretty funny, he's a good B level prospect that shouldn't be traded for Burrows. Always tough to gage the completion in Europe especially in their minor leagues. Dube and him are decent comparables proabbly the edge to Dahlen.

Bruce Garrioch @SunGarrioch
Dorion pleased to add character. Says the #Sens need it.

ok, but how does Burrows help with that?

lol, I don't think there's a player in the NHL with LESS character than Burrows.

How can someone running an NHL team be that clueless?

Really an awful move for them. Wouldn't of traded a 3rd for Burrows even without considering the scum bag he is.
