Eh. I think we have a chance against LA no matter who is in net.
We've beaten Quick. We've beaten Bishop.
It's not like they can play both of them at once.
Marginal upgrade at best. I'm sure we'll take at least 2 games.

LA's primary need appeared to be some scoring help. Budaj has been decent for them, and Bishop eats up additional cap space which leaves them with very little to make other moves, as it stands.
I get the insurance for Quick angle, but not sure this move helps them much.

How pissed will Quick be if they give the crease to Bishop.

Between this, convincing Jack Johnson to take a discount and then trading him, and weaseling out of the Mike Richards contract, LA really is the golden standard when it comes to treating its players right.

Why are people criticizing the Kings for this move?... is the player they gave up even projecting to be an NHLer??... the draft picks are negligible

I wonder how much this has to do with Quicks actual health and the number of back to backs LA has down the stretch. Budaj has been weak the last little while, but one can hope that this is as disruptive to the locker room as when we traded Ference and kobasew.

Maybe the change of scenery and a bit of rest for Budaj will allow him to go on another hot streak and help the Lightning sneak into the playoffs. He did play 53 games out of 59 for the Kings this season.

With the regained confidence of having quick or bishop in net for them, they will score more hence the 4 1 win against anaheim

It's not like Budaj was getting lit up on a nightly basis though. Their confidence in their goalie shouldn't change. It's no different than Johnson in November with with the Flames. He's not a big name goalie but was giving them big name goalie performances.

Being a Flames fan there is an inherent bias against other team's moves, but this one in particular does have the aura of potential failure around it. I approve.

That remains to be seen. It has been one game, and it is not like the Kings have ever been a high scoring team.

LA didn't give up much, so I can see their side of the deal. But this is the best Tampa could do? They must really like Cernak, as they gave up nothing.

I don't think either Bishop or Quick really like this situation. Will be interesting to see how they both handle it in the crucial stretch run.

looks like the Flames didn't make an offer for Bishop
Bryan Burns @BBurnsNHL
Yzerman said his options were to make the deal with L.A. last night or hold onto Bishop for rest of the season. No other offers out there.
doesn't mean they didn't inquire.. just means they didn't have an offer on the table, if you believe Yzerman

Maybe they have a deal in place for another G hence reason for no offer.

Or more likely, Treliving feels he is seeing enough from Elliott and Johnson now to trust them for the balance of the season and into the playoffs for this year.

That or they have decided to ride out the tandem they have. The Flames maybe want what little financial wiggle room they have to improve up front and feel that Elliott/Johnson will get the job done?

Doesn't surprise me at all re: Flames. They are hunting for a goalie, but not someone like this I think - instead think very young, with the potential to be here long term. Think similar to the Matt Murray rumours of a year or two ago - my thoughts anyway.

I'd imagine the Flames will pursue Bishop in free agency. Save the assets and ride Elliott for the rest of the year.
