You seriously think he randomly released that statement without anyone from the media asking him to comment specifically on Doan?
declining to comment is the more appropriate response.

Doan not wanting to move is no shock. He once tried to argue that his NMC somehow prevented the NHL from moving the team with him on it.

Starting in late June, or earlier, he doesn't ever need to go anywhere again if he doesn't want to.
Very similar to hamhuis last year where teams in the east wanted him but he would only waive for Chicago or Dallas. If players want the best for the organization that they portend to care so much about, doesn't it behoove them to do the organization a solid (and better themselves as well with a chance at a cup) and move on?

I know the answer is no and they've earned the right to say no but I've always wondered why players in these situations react the way they do. I know there are some hockey folks on this board and any insight would be appreciated.

Re Evander Kane: Sabres are willing to move him if price is right. GMTM had a chat with Montreal, asking price was Sergachev.

Just listened to the Doan interview. What a joke. Almost in tears because you lost Hanzal and gained 3 good draft picks? Did you think you were going to be competitive anytime soon? So clueless and oblivious.

Never suggested it was inappropriate.

I said I wasn't a fan and that no comment was more appropriate.

Well then don't be surprised and salty when one of your buddies is traded

Three of their top cap hits are retired guys that will never play for them. That is an absolute joke this is the NHL for #### sakes.

He expects to make millions playing hockey in an empty arena and then gets all pissy when someone suggests the team should move or that the team needs major personnel changes despite constant losing.

I don't understand why a couple posters are upset with Doan over that interview.

Sounded to me like a fiercely loyal guy who is seeing the team he loves (for whatever reason) go through the same endless motion of "rebuilding" every few seasons. He sounds exasperated.

I'm sure he saw it coming based on the season they were having, that probably doesn't make it any less frustrating, especially nearing retirement.

Its not this interview alone...he has a pattern of woe is me type interviews over the years...thinks the world owes him something for some reason. He honestly thought the team shouldn't move because he has a NMC lol

That Coyotes roster is looking pretty grim. Playing your whole career for a franchise that has not been very successful is kind of a sad footnote imo.

I hope Doan waives and goes to a contender to end his career.

No issues with being loyal and passionate...

But in that Interview Doan looks like a Blockbuster employee during their last years of operation angry that VHS tapes are being put on clearance.

He's free to love that area / franchise all he wants. But there really shouldn't be any sudden surprise / exasperation that they suck and are spinning their wheels. He had to know that's what he signed up for staying there.

I don't recall him ever saying that, got a link?

Either way, what I've seen is a pattern of loyalty. He has said in countless interviews he feels he owes the city something for how good they've been to him, and I would assume he gets frustrated because he's the only one who has that belief and/or has stuck to it for so long.

I would love to get Kane. I think he'd be a great fit to help make a push to the playoffs this season as well as going forward into next season.

I could care less about any draft picks from this season going the other way, since this draft seems to be so mediocre overall.

Bennett + would be a good start.

No no no what is this, Bennett is starting to put it all together. He's gonna be a hell of a player imo. Trading him for Evander Kane is laughable. Don't even need to get into how Kane is a locker room destroyer. There's a reason why Buffalo is willing to let him go. Bennett for him is terrible, Bennett++ Jesus. Do I even have to go into how so many good players struggle in their first few seasons while the vast majority aren't in the NHL at Bennetts age. We've been spoiled with Tkachuk this year but Bennett is as critical to our future.

He said it, others on here also recall...not gonna search for it you are welcome to

When your teams biggest cap hit goes to a guy that has retired...maybe, just maybe they are not focused on winning. Any belief he has or had was extremely misguided. I don't think he is a terrible person or anything just that he is kinda ignorant to reality when it comes to his team.
