I hate the Oilers as much as anyone but if they win today it helps the Flames. Anyone who disagrees either is lying to themselves or literally hate the oilers more than they like the Flames. If so, good for you guys I'll be hoping they help the Flames and then go to hating them next game.

Most of this is baseless conjecture. The fact of the matter is that the Flames will either make the playoffs or they will not on their own merit. The extremely slim margin of improvement that an Oilers win provides to the statistical probability of the Flames chances does not affect that in the slightest. Most fans here recognize that and cannot simply choose to wish well being on the Oilers dumpster fire for the sake of something so patently negligible.

So preds score, they don't call it a goal on the ice until it's reviewed, in the meantime the a predator takes a penalty. After review they call it a goal, but the penalty stands? That is a stupid rule.

And of course Oilers score on a pp that should never have been called if the refs were actually able to do their job

Dumbest rule ever. If you score does it count? No. So why should the penalty?
Bizarre

Found this:
- Any penalties signaled during the period of time between the apparent goal and the next stoppage of play shall be assessed in the normal manner, except when a minor penalty is to be assessed to the team scored upon. The scoring of the goal would nullify the penalty. There is an exception made if an infraction happens after the first stoppage of play following an apparent goal (infraction after the whistle) by either team. It is assessed and served regardless as to the decision rendered by the video goal judge.

The problem is that you can't just give players free rein to do whatever they want after an apparent goal is scored.
There are many infractions that still should deserve a penalty. It would be no different than if you punched a player in the face as he was celebrating a goal. A player can still be assessed a penalty during a stoppage in play.
It's easier for the league to have a blanket rule that says all penalties that occur after the goal is scored are still assessed than it is to leave it up to the refs to decide if it's something that still deserves a penalty even though it happened during the course of play that technically no longer happened.

Yes. Nashville's power play connects with another goal. Go to hell, Edmonton.
