Why do people even bother posting Eklund "rumours" anymore? When is the last time any of them actually happened? I thought there used to be a dedicated Eklund thread to keep this thread for actual rumours

I'd consider Fleury a lateral move at this stage, which makes the deal useless. If we're going to be paying a goalie 5M+ next year, I'd like that goalie to be Bishop.

I agree that Bishop should be the target I just wish we could sign him to a 4 year deal. The way the Flames and Bishop are playing now the team could benefit greatly from the move and the Bolts backs are against the wall missing the playoffs and an extremely limited market really puts Treliving in the drivers seat.
I am not opposed to Fleury as I like the 2 year term on his deal and the guy comes from a winning franchise. I do think the Pens need to sweeten the pot for us to take him on though even in a Wideman swap

I will be working from home that day. Just hope it is not a crazy day workload wise

I only trade for Fleury if the Pens add and we give up very little. Pens are in a bad place with Fleury and the whole league knows it.

I personally prefer Bennett on the wing, so I would be all for picking up a someone to center a line with Bennett and one of Brouwer/Ferland/Versteeg. But I would prefer an expiring contract that would allow Jankowski to have a spot to fight for.
As for Fleury, I do not like him but with 2 years left I can see him being a decent stopgap but I his contract is just not palatable to me, so for me to like any move for him I would want someone like Pouliot and at least 25% retention.

Can we have a thread that's free from comments on deadline day? A thread only Sureloss or links can be posted in, and people can comment elsewhere?
Otherwise I would simply prefer somebody PM me Sureloss's Twitter account so I can avoid opening this thread every two seconds to see people's thoughts and whatnot.

EW. Doan is trash. I see no up side to that deal at all. I'd rather be forced to play one of our AHL guys over Doan. Any AHLer on the heat even Smith.

sorry for posting speculation in the Trade Speculation and Rumour thread.

Bennett is slowly putting it together right now, you don't move him to the wing when you can tell he's developing. Thought he looked really really good yesterday and vs the Lightning. He's picking up a lot more speed on his zone entries and is getting more comfortable on that line. He's figuring it out, let's not mess with that.

I have no problem with people posting. And today's not deadline day, is it?

My hope is that something can be planned before hand.

Was just coming in to post the chart. Interesting that Button is scouting. Does he usually scout pro games? The first I've seen him listed on a seating chart.

just busting your chops a bit.

Normally each trade or move will get its own thread, but there still has to be a place for those who want to talk, debate, etc to post. It's this thread.

There used to be. When rumors and hockey got slow we began allowing them to be posted here again it seems.

It's like when you're sitting on the pot with nothing to read but the National Inquirer. You know nothing written there is valid, but it's a better read than the shampoo bottle.

I'm alright with them posted as long as it's noted as Ecklund. Then I just read it in the same light as anyone else's guess proposal.

Since he is the director of amateur scouting it is a little odd to see him at a pro game. We do play the Kings on Tuesday so seeing Maloney scouting them makes sense.

I really find it hard to believe that we would be trade partners with either team, unless they were taking Wideman, in which case they can have him.
