Default Saddledome Woes

I looked for a thread about this, and if there is one, shut this down.

If you sort like espn does (I think it is by total points), we are 6th best in the league on the road and 6th worst in the league at hom.

http://www.espn.com/nhl/standings/_/...ercent/group/1

It's somewhat common over the years for crappy teams to be great at home, but dreadful on the road. I think it's pretty rare to be the reverse. I've seen articles that have related road success to playoff success, so overall this is probably a good thing.

But it makes me wonder what's going on at home. Too much pressure (expectations were mixed this year, so this seems unlikely)? Library atmosphere? Need a new building? Statistic anomaly?

Why do I suddenly feel like buying a TV from Amazon
edit: alright you fixed the link

The team is so up and down at time I just think it is a statistical anomaly where some of the bad stretches coincided with home games.

Also just looked it up the home PK% (24th in the league) is what also probably kills them the most at home.

The coach mentioned they seem to wait at home for something to happen before they get going. They seem to struggle coming out of the gate. The funny thing is I get the sense the fans have been doing the same.

As I recall they won more games on the road in the 2004 playoff run than they won at home

I believe there was a season under Hartley where the Flames were better on the road as well. It doesn't seem to be that uncommon I guess.

12 of their last 19 games are at the Dome starting on Tuesday - so let's hope they go on a roll there too!

19,000 raucous fans cheering them into a playoff spot couldn't hurt either!

Maybe we're missing Gaudreau's impact. As I recall, last season he scored way more at home than on the road. This year his scoring is way down.

We started the season with a pile of home games and a completely unprepared coach. That was a recipe for disaster. We were 3-7 in our first 10 home games. 7-3 in our second 10, and frustratingly, 5-4 in the remaining nine, with losses to some truly pitiful opposition.
