Good. Now they should can that A&W guy too. Bring back the Root Beer Bear.
I was in an A&W commercial when I was a kid. I'll be signing autographs later if you want!

Aren't you also the guy in the Herpes commercial?
Actually those p*ss me off, it shows this really hot woman, and then she says something along the lines of, I have herpes, but I can enjoy normal activities. Quickly there after it cuts to scenes of her doing activities such as horseback riding, and making out with her boyfriend, who I assume also has the herp.
Those and tampon commercials, why do the women really have to be that good looking in them, just show some BS scene where some blue liquid is mopped up by the super absorbant thing.

Still not as bad as Mcdonalds commercials, especially the chicken select ones.
"Step away from the chicken selects!"
Ugh.

For every Mr. Wendy that gets taken off the air... There still 5-10 more that spring up and make you want to punch that dude who actually has an advertising degree in the face.
How does Goodwrench go from Stephen Colbert to Goodwrench Idol?? what a severe step back in advertising.
McDonalds ones still p*ss me off big time, someone really needs to get their face caved in for that garbage.
And those drug store commericals are the WORST the ones that try to sing a song... I can't even remember which chain they advertise... but oh god those make me want to slam my head against a wall.

Sorry guys but... I like Mr Wendy (might be because I know a guy that seems to get on his knees for the resturant... then again he loves everything about the chain BUT Mr. Wendy)
As for bad commercials... CaramonLS I think you're thinking of the Shoppers Drug Mart commerical where the mother and child walk in and the mother and pharmasist exchange lines that are actually lyrics to "I'll Be There"
I haven't been watching much TV lately.
This one got ALOT of heat, if I recall Hockey Futures had a thread about how HORRIBLE and ANNOYING it was... however I loved it with every fiber of my being, still watch it on my computer from time to time (goes into video folder)
 Beer Beer Beer
 Bubba Beer Beer Beer
Oh when we get together just me and all the lads
Everyone remembers all the fun we've had
For every time we gather there's plenty of good cheer
IMAGINE FINDING SOMEBODY'S ORGAN!
THAT
calls for a Bubba beer beer beer beer beer

There is nothing any advertising firm can do that can fall below McCain's combination of horrible songs and people having orgasms eating french fries.

well, people in advertising tend to be those who couldnt cut it in any other creative industry.
having said that, I think there are some amazingly good commercials out there, but alot of the time it depends on the clients as well. You have no idea how many clients kill great ideas in favour of the same trite crap....inevitably some suit tries to thinks he knows everything and wrecks the whole thing.
And then there are companies like ESPN ( remember those great hockey ads from the mid-90's? ), Nike and VW ( about 4-5 years ago atleast ), who realized the power of good advertising, and therefore go seek out the best minds.
