I swear to all Deities that some of the Players "accidentally" participated

They have waves of despair when they wake up and realize the boring game isn't over yet.

I remember the best wave experience I ever had was at the closing ceremony of the '88 Olympics. There was a double wave rolling. The initial wave would come through and the second bump was about a section behind. Never have I experienced something similar. Peak wave.

I was at and All Blacks game in Wellington and we were told the Mexican Wave was when everybody did the wave but also threw their garbage in the air as well.

This is absolutely 100% correct. After all empty seats can't do the wave, and Phoenix is full of them.

I also seem to remember that the wave continued while then-IOC President Juan Antonio Samaranch was at the podium waiting to deliver his closing address. Didn't he have to tell the crowd to "stop" or something?

If I am with my gf, the wave excites me as I believe it might just excite her and distract her for a bit.
If I am with a buddy and he participates I am embarrassed.

Good stuff from the Coyotes. The wave is one of the lamest crowd interactions in all of sports. Of course, it also seems to be the only time people in the Saddledome get off their phones during the game without being told to MAKE SOME NOISEEEEEEE, so I shouldn't complain too much.

the yotes should encourage the wave as it distracts their fans from the product on the ice

I support something new. Like a crowd surf competition. Or giving free beers to the section that eats the most hotdogs. Or doing the best mannequin.
I mean they need to do something to get wid it.

I don't mind the wave but imo, it should be done when the team is winning. But that's just me. When we are losing 4-0, it is the least thing I want to do.
As for the coyotes, f-them, fans can do what they want. (Well almost)

Yeah, it seems like a problem in Australia and NZ that some fans will use the wave as an opportunity to throw things.
Instead of banning the wave altogether because of a few bad eggs just kick out the garbage throwers.

Haha love it. Reminds me back when I was a punk 21 year old all drunk at Yankee Stadium, some dudes started trying to do the wave so I joined in. Some other dude with a very thick NYC accent grabbed my arm and said "that #### is Shea" (as in Shea Stadium, where the Mets play. Bush league in his mind, clearly). It was pretty awesome actually, I had to respect it

I guess they figure that it means "wave bye-bye" as the team moves to Seattle.

As a SFGiants fan, I vehemently oppose the wave. When people try and start it at AT&T Park, they are quickly informed we aren't Dodgers fans. We don't do the wave, we don't hit beach balls, and we don't leave early. I have stopped the wave multiple times, including while watching the Giants in Seattle. The team, announcers, beat writers, fans are all opposed to it.
However, they do have a fist pump cam, which is as ridiculous as it sounds.

love the baseball stories actually...
but with all due respect, those are long standing franchises whose aversion to the wave is based on tradition, but also because they are thumbing their noses at rival fanbases...
ARZ "not doing the wave" is pretty silly... who are they not trying to be? Vegas?

It was born in Seattle, IIRC, by University of Washington fans.
