"Career loser" who will have earned over $66 million dollars by 2019 playing hockey who has also represented his country internationally several times and has 9 medals (6 gold) to show for it. Give me a break. Some of you guys are so out to lunch when it comes to Bouwmeester it's not even funny. Guess Iginla is a career loser too since he hasn't won at the NHL level.

no kidding, good enough for the greatest defense ever assembled...but not good enough for the Calgary Flames

such a dumb meaningless trade by guys who had no idea what they were doing

He still had another year on his deal for crying out loud

Iginla's had some of the best games of his career in the biggest moments of his career. Game 7 against Vancouver, Game 6 against Detroit, Game 6 against San Jose, Game 5 against Tampa Bay, Gold medal game 2002, Gold medal game 2010, etc.

For his career, Iginla is a 0.84 PPG player, over 81 career playoff games.

Bouwmeester has a history of coming up small when his team absolutely needed him to be their best player. Although to be fair to Bo, he did just have a playoff where his team nearly went to the finals and he averaged 1.4 hits a game! Good for him. He does care. Clearly his reputation is undeserved.

His pass to Jamie Benn in the 2014 Olympics against the US to set up what I believe was the only goal of the game was a nice play.

Jarome Iginla played his best hockey on big stages. Jay Bouwmeester plays his best hockey in November.

The thing with Hunter Smith is Calgary kid, Brayden Point, was still on the board and coming off a 91-point draft year season - clearly the most talented forward available. Ridiculous the Flames missed that gimme.

99% sure the flames had Point come into town for a pre-draft visit too so they must have been really high on Smith.

or Brandon Montour, who is already playing with the Ducks and was selected with the next pick. Similar profile as Kylington or Andersson or Hickey or Fox before we had any of those players in our prospect pool.

Sorry to derail, but that team was great defensively, but far from the best defense ever assembled.

The 1976 Canada Cup team boasted:

Orr / Potvin
Robinson / Savard
Lapointe / Vadnais
Watson

Ignoring Vadnais (who was a very good player) and Watson, the other 5 are all among the greatest defensemen ever to play.

Orr, Potvin, Robinson are all probably in the top 10 of all time, and Savard and Lapointe aren't far off.

I would be very surprised if Stone was Brad Treliving’s only move. He’s looking at wingers, preferably someone with a bit of edge. And, even though he won’t discuss it, it’s hard to believe he’s not looking for a goalie.

I might be off here but I think you might be referencing Nic Petan?

Petan was a 2013 pick. He was the 4th player invited by the Flames (in addition to Monahan, Poirier and Klimchuk) IIRC.

Point was a 2014 pick.

Orr Potvin is the greatest pairing in the history of everything.

He's more of a delinquent teenager kind of edge rather than anything actually useful to a hockey team.

Wasn't Brouwer supposed to be our winger with edge?

Speaking of which, if the Avs sell Duchene, Iginla, and Landeskog, perhaps they'll need some warm bodies to fill their roster next year, such as Brouwer.

Brouwer for Iginla?

I just don't get the love for Iginla these days. I have no interest in bringing him back.

Landeskog is a guy with some edge. eh? eh?

Looking at the TSN trade list who else fits that? Evander Kane? Eaves? Lazar? Sharp? not sure if he plays with 'edge'. Good player, though. Iginla???

hmmmmmmm

Flames might be looking at a guy that isn't on that board. Just might make a 'hockey trade'.
